Commencement - Vancouver Campus
The Vancouver Commencement Ceremony will be at The Centre on Thursday, May 9, 2019. The Centre is located at 777 Homer Street, Vancouver, BC V6B 2W1.
(Note: All participants must be at the Westside/The Centre by 12:00 PM. Please allow adequate time for parking.)
Registration to Attend the Ceremony
Students who are planning to attend the ceremony in Vancouver must RSVP to the Ceremony starting on February 1 to March 31, 2019 by submitting a Build a Grad online registration form. Only students that declare for graduation (using Webadvisor) will receive an e-mail from Enrollment Services with the steps and procedures for Build a Grad. Student Loan Exit Interviews
Students who have received Canadian student loans are required to attend an exit interview with the Associate Director of Student Services during their final trimester.
FDU will be sponsoring a dinner for all graduates, faculty and staff on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the Italian Cultural Centre, 3075 Slocan St, Vancouver. The Centre is about 2 blocks west of the Renfrew Skytrain Station on the Millennium Line. Please confirm your attendance on the Build a Grad registration form.

Graduation Honors and Awards
Undergraduate students whose cumulative grade point ratio (CGPR) is 3.85 or higher will receive their degree summa cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.67, magna cum laude; if the CGPR is 3.33, cum laude. Only weighted grades will be included in computing honors. Only the credits taken at Fairleigh Dickinson University, a minimum of 54 credits, will be used in this evaluation.
Students who qualify to graduate with honors will receive a medal which they can wear at graduation. Medals will be distributed at the Pre-Commencement Dinner on Wednesday, May 8. Students who also plan to attend the Commencement Ceremony in New Jersey should take their medal with them.
Students in the Business Program, who have been admitted to Beta Gamma Sigma, may also wear their award cord.
Each year faculty and staff nominate one student from the graduating class for the Pinnacle Award. The student is invited to speak at the Commencement Ceremony. This year's Pinnacle Award for our Vancouver Campus goes to Natalia Alejandra Montano Gonzalez.
Graduate Program Speaker
Each year a graduating representative from the graduate program is invited to speak on behalf of the class at the Commencement Ceremony.
Students are encouraged to invite family and friends to the ceremony. Graduating students may bring as many guests as they would like. However, as seating is limited, guests must have a ticket to attend. Tickets for guests are available from the Enrollment Services Office (Office 203) from Monday, April 29 to Friday, May 3, 2019 between 10:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Please note this is only for students who already RSVP'd using Build a Grad.
Students who are returning to Canada to attend the ceremony should obtain a Letter of Invitation to attend the Commencement ceremony for themselves and their guests. Students and their guests who need a visa to enter Canada will require this letter for their application for their visa. It is recommended that you apply for your visa before February 20, to provide sufficient time to process the application.

Gowns and Regalia
When graduating students RSVP to the Commencement Ceremony using Build a Grad , they will be asked to provide their height for their gown.
Rehearsal and Gown Pick Up
Graduation gowns can be picked up from the Enrollment Services office, room 203 from Monday, April 29 until Friday, May 3, 2019 between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.

Students who RSVP in Build a Grad for the Commencement Ceremony in New Jersey will need to bring their gowns with them to that event.
Dress should be appropriate for the occasion. It is recommended that graduates wear business casual attire for the commencement ceremonies. Please wear comfortable dress shoes (no running shoes). Personal belongings should not be brought into the lineup area. Graduates will not be permitted to carry handbags, cameras, balloons or other objects.
Photographs may be taken at any time and the use of video cameras is permitted during the ceremony.
For personal safety and fire code compliance, pictures and video can only be taken from your guests’ designated seating area. Individuals are asked not to leave their seats to take pictures of graduates.
Seating for a disabled guest accompanying family members is available on request. Please contact the Enrollment Services office at 604-648-4474 for further information.
Parking is available in the public parking lot located under the Vancouver Public Library (corner of West Georgia and Hamilton Street). The entrance to the parking garage is on Hamilton Street (near Robson Street). 5 AM to Midnight, 7 days a week.
Specially designated handicapped parking stalls are beside doors to the elevators in the parking garage below the library building (exit on level 1).
Processional, Benediction and Recessional
Graduates and their guests remain standing after the processional for the singing of the National Anthems and the Invocation. Men should remove their caps for the National Anthems, Invocation and Benediction. During the Benediction, all graduates stand. After the Benediction, all will remain standing while members of the platform party leave, followed by faculty and then graduates.
Students will be seated according to college affiliation and degree attained.
Note: Once the ceremony begins and out of respect for all graduates and their guests, graduates are not permitted to leave the seating area until after the ceremony is completed. All graduates are expected to participate in the processional and recessional of the formal and dignified ceremony.
Graduates and their guests are invited to join the faculty, staff and honored guests for a reception in the foyer immediately following the ceremony.
Recording of the Grad Greetings Video
The Vancouver Campus will be recording a Grad Greeting Video where you can thank your family, friends and professors for their support. This video will be shown at the Commencement Ceremony. Come and record your 20 second message!

Grad Slide Show
The Vancouver Campus is putting together a slide show to display at the Commencement Ceremony. Send your photos from your time at FDU to email@example.com before Friday, April 26, 2018.
To book your personal portrait sitting, please contact Artona by calling 604.872.7272, or visit their website at www.artonagroup.com. Click the "My School Info" button on the homepage. Enter "Fairleigh Dickinson University". Follow the on-line instructions.
There is a $15 non refundable sitting fee and a $60 refundable deposit. The $60 deposit allows them to produce and send you previews of your photos, which will be applied to your photo order.

Call for hours on statutory holidays
Diplomas will be available for pick up from the Enrollment Services office about 8 weeks after the date of graduation. Unless otherwise specified, all diplomas will be available for pickup at the Vancouver Campus.
