Cory Booker, Mayor of Newark, NJ, delivered the Commencement Address to 2600 FDU graduates and their families at the Izod Center in May, 2012. Booker had also visited FDU's College at Florham twice before, making the case that "Whatever Affects One Directly, Affects All Indirectly" and previously addressing Current Leadership Challenges in Public Administration and Education.
Among the richly eclectic events at FDU's WAMFEST 2012: punk-rocker Kristin Hersh and poet Tom Sleigh joined WAMFEST artist-in-residence and visiting professor Wesley Stace for music and conversation; renowned dancer, choreographer, and director, Mark Morris, spoke about his career in opera and dance; poet Quincy Troupe and hip-hop Artist Talib Kweli found the common themes in their work; and South African Poet Laureate Keorapetse Kgositsile and celebrated Jimi Hendrix biographer and author, David Henderson, joined in conversation with FDU professor and author Jeffrey Reynard Allen.
