Samuel Raphalides

Samuel J. Raphalides, B.A., M.A, MA, Ph. D., is a Professor of Political Science and History at the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University and Director of the Global Scholars Program. He earned his Ph. D. in Political Science from The Graduate Faculty, New School for Social Research, New York City, specializing in International Affairs and Comparative Politics, with additional study in Middle East and North African politics at Columbia University. His research and teaching interests encompass international relations, United States foreign policy, nationalism and political development in Europe and the developing world. Dr. Raphalides was a National Endowment for the Humanities Fellow and a member of the Editorial Committee of Fairleigh Dickinson University Press. Dr. Raphalides is the campus chapter adviser and member of Pi Sigma Alpha, The National Political Science Honor Society, and is a member of Phi Alpha Theta, The National History Honor Society. His articles have appeared in encyclopedias and in learned journals including, Presidential Studies Quarterly, Journal of Asian and African Affairs, Journal of Third World Studies, Journal of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies (UK) and the Journal of Modern Hellenism.
