Dr. Lisa Braverman is the new Dean of FDU's Petrocelli College of Continuing Studies.
Dr. Braverman's leadership roles in adult, online and continuing education have included serving as the Chief Academic Officer of Jones International University, an online university; Associate Provost for Adult Programs at Long Island University; Dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies at the SUNY Fashion Institute of Technology (SUNY FIT) and the New York Institute of Technology, and Executive Director for College Outreach at SUNY Farmingdale.
Among her many highlights, at LIU she developed new blended degree programs for adult learners and managed most of the college's international study and external partnership programs. She also led a joint effort involving academic and administrative offices fostering programs that incorporated adult pedagogy, prior learning assessment, and workforce-ready professional tracks.
At SUNY FIT, she articulated a comprehensive vision for continuing education and led the international expansion and growth of online learning. She implemented the first enrollment strategy for the College's evening/weekend degrees, forging new relationships with local corporations, governmental offices, neighborhood associations and education agencies. In addition, she established FIT's Center for Innovation Management, a corporate education unit that expanded FIT programs abroad to Asia and Latin America.
During her career, she has managed, designed and developed online learning programs, as well as training programs and certificate offerings, study abroad programs and public programs in partnership with prestigious cultural institutions and corporations.
Dr. Braverman has held numerous leadership roles in major professional adult education organizations, including serving on the Board of Directors of the University Professional Continuing Education Association and the Association of Continuing Higher Education. She is a published author of numerous chapters, articles and reviews in books and peer-reviewed academic journals. She is frequently invited to speak at conferences and professional workshops on topics of nontraditional, corporate, online and continuing education and higher education leadership.
She earned her Ph.D., M.Phil. and M.A. in Spanish and Latin American Studies from New York University and her B.A. from Brandeis University, and studied in Peru on a Rotary International scholarship. She is fluent in English and Spanish, and can also speak French and some Italian, Portuguese and Mandarin.
With a unified approach and an enhanced focus on the adult learner, Petrocelli College offers a variety of traditional and non-traditional learning and degree opportunities on the New Jersey campuses, in Vancouver, and in fully online learning.
