This guide, from The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University, has been updated to reflect the MLA Handbook (8th ed.). Here you will find examples for the format of MLA research papers, in-text citations, endnotes/footnotes, and the Works Cited page.

APA (American Psychological Association) style is commonly used to write papers in the social sciences. . This guide, from The Online Writing Lab (OWL) at Purdue University, has been updated to the 6th edition of the APA manual. Here you will find examples for the format of APA research papers, in-text citations, endnotes/footnotes, and the reference page.

An example of a fully formatted paper in the APA style is also provided.

The Write Site, from the University of Sidney, provides online support to help develop your academic writing skills.

There are three writing modules to choose from. Each module provides descriptions of common problems in academic writing and strategies for addressing them. You will see samples of good writing and also do some practice activities in error correction.

Module 1: Grammar - this module helps you to learn how to identify and self correct the most common errors in grammar that students make in academic writing.

Module 2: Sources - this module helps you to select sources for your research, and it explains how to paraphrase, summarize, quote and cite your research results.

Module 3: Structure - This module explains how to interpret essay questions, how to develop a plan for a well-structured essay and takes you through the process to plan your essay.
