Dr. Vasudevan Janarthanan joins the faculty at FDU-Vancouver as a full-time Assistant Professor in Information Technology in May 2008. He received his PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, in 2007. His areas of interests include real-time systems, real-time scheduling, real-time control, supervisory control of discrete-event systems, real-time embedded control, operating systems and formal methods.
Professor Vasudevan Janarthanan is an active researcher in the real-time systems community and has published extensively in a number of reputed journals and conferences. He has taught numerous undergraduate and graduate courses in Electrical, Computer Science and Computer Engineering Departments. Some of the courses he has taught in the past include embedded systems design, introduction to real-time systems, control systems engineering, digital design, computer architecture, operating systems and fault-tolerant distributed systems.
Professor Vasudevan Janarthanan also holds a Masters Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, and a Bachelors Degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from NIT Jalandhar, India. He is a member of IEEE Control Society and a regular reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control, IEEE International Conference on Distributed Computing Systems and IEEE Conference for Control Applications.

Jonn Martell, Lecturer and Director of Technical Operations, has 20 years experience in consulting, networking and IT. He managed the deployment and operation of numerous multimillion dollar networking projects including fiber optics, wireless and VOIP services. Jonn joined the Director’s team at Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Vancouver Campus to oversee the technological deployment and operations of the new University campus located at the heart of Vancouver, Canada.
Jonn also teaches wireless, networking, security and technology courses at the University of British Columbia. He is a certified wireless network expert (CWNE) and certified instructor (CWNT). He is a Project Management Professional and holds numerous technology certifications from Cisco, Microsoft and CompTIA.
Jonn is a regular speaker at industry and educational conferences and has presented at Interop, Net’99, ResNet, IEEE, UDI, Library Access, Wi-Fi Alliance and VoiceCon. He is a graduate of the University of British Columbia.

Yin Maung, Instructor for Digital Media Arts, was born in Myanmar and spent her formative years in Singapore. She later moved to Edmonton for her education at the University of Alberta where she earned her Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Marketing Major) and Master of Arts in Communications and Technology.
Yin also holds a diploma in Multimedia Production and has 8 years of experience in the multi-faceted world of web and graphic design. She is keen to share her knowledge in the areas of creating and manipulating visual elements for web/print, designing web content architecture and developing strategic web communication plans in the government and corporate sector.
Yin moved to the coast of beautiful British Columbia in 2008 because of her passion for the outdoors. On her days off, she enjoys rock climbing, biking and paddling. Yin is also an active volunteer with her web/graphic design skills for organizations such as Innovative Canadians for Change (ICChange) and the Sunshine Coast Conservation Association (SCCA).

Dr. Reza Molavi, Adjunct Professor, received his B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering from Sharif University of Technology, Tehran, Iran in 2003 and his M.Sc. and PhD degrees from University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada in 2005, and 2013, respectively.
From 2007-2013, he was a Mixed-Signal Design Engineer with PMC-Sierra, Burnaby where he was involved in the design of several high-performance clocking and transciever buiding blocks for multi-gigabit serial data links and wireless chip products. He is currently a Lecturer with the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UBC and an Adjunct Faculty with Fairleigh Dickinson University. Since 2014, he has taught several courses including Digital System Design, Microprocessor Design, IT Needs Assessment and Management, Applied Statistics, and Management Informations Systems at FDU, Vancouver Campus.
In 2003, he received a distinguished award for ranking 2nd in the Nationwide Professional Engineering Practice Exam in Iran. He was also the recepient of the Best Paper Finalist award in the IEEE Canadian Conference on Eletrical and Computer Engineering, Montreal, Canada, 2012 and the co-recipient of the Best Student Paper Award of the 2015 IEEE Radio-Frequency Integrated Circuit (RFIC) Symposium. He is a member of IEEE Solid-State Society and a regular reviewer for IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems and IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS). His research interests include the modeling and design of high-frequency analog and mixed-signal circuits in CMOS technology.
