Professor Tadj, Assistant Professor and Program Coordinator for the Business Program, holds a PhD in Operations Research from Florida Institute of Technology, an MS in Applied Mathematics from Carnegie-Mellon University and a BS in Mathematics from the University of Algiers.
Professor Tadj's first passion is teaching. He has been a teacher for over 20 years and he has taught on four different continents: Africa (Université des Science et de la Technologie Houari-Boumediène, Institut des Sciences Biomédicales in Algeria), North America (Florida Institute of Technology, Brevard Community College in the US), Asia (King Saud University in Saudi Arabia, American University in Dubai In the United Arab Emirates), and Europe (International School of Management in France). He has taught various courses from mathematics and statistics to operations research, operations management, and management science. While at KSU, he co-authored five textbooks (Introduction to Programming with BASIC, Introduction to Inventory Control, Introduction to Stochastic Processes, Introduction to Reliability Theory, and Introduction to Integer Programming). He has also edited a book (Replacement Models with Minimal Repair) published by Springer, and contributed chapters in different books.
Professor Tadj's second passion is reseach. He has written several papers on Queueing Theory, Inventory Theory, Optimal Control, Reliability Theory, and Statistical Inference. He has published in various mathematics and management journals, is serving on the editorial board of the Antarctica Journal of Mathematics, the Journal of Probability and Statistical Sciences, and the Journal of Applied Mathematics and Stochastic Analysis. Isabella Krysa is Assistant Professor of Management and joined the FDU Vancouver campus in August 2016. She earned her Ph.D. at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her research interests are in organizational history, cross-cultural comparisons on leadership effectiveness, and organizational diversity. In her research on diversity in the workplace, Prof. Krysa focuses on identifying systemic barriers of minority populations in the workplace and finding solutions to create inclusive organizations.
Living in a diverse society is both a passion in research and in life for Prof. Krysa. Born in Poland and raised in Germany, living in different cultures and meeting people from different places has made Prof. Krysa particularly interested in travelling and exploring other cultures and ways of living. Conducting her Ph.D. on the issue of diversity in a multicultural place like Canada has allowed Prof. Krysa to create a career where she can pursue her passions.
Prof. Krysa has taught students in Canada, Vietnam and China. She is particularly passionate about teaching courses that help students become global citizens. She aspires to help students realize how wonderful it is that we now have access to connect with people all over the world.

Lu Wang, Assistant Professor of Finance and Economics joins the Vancouver campus in September 2017. She received her PhD in Economics at the University of Alberta. Her teaching fields include both Finance and Economics. Dr. Lu Wang’s PhD dissertation is on the topic of banks’ risk assessment and allocation. Her research interests include 1) financial intermediation; 2) monetary and macroeconomic policy; 3) international trade 4) political economy.
Before joining FDU, Dr. Lu Wang worked as a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the China Institute, University of Alberta. She was one of the major contributors in the project of assessing the role of Chinese state owned companies in a potential Canada-China free trade agreement. Dr. Lu Wang also initialized a project in studying Fintech development and regulation in China.
In addition, Dr. Lu Wang has practical experience in the financial industry. She was an associate at the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) and a loan manager at the Bank of China.

Jill Reid, Senior Lecturer, joined Fairleigh Dickinson University, Vancouver Campus as a full-time faculty member (Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship) in August 2012. Born in the UK, Jill received her Bachelor's (Honours) degree in German & Sociology from the University of Salford, England, and an MBA from Aston University, England and a Ph.D from the Sprott School of Business at Carleton University, Ottawa, Ontario. During her time in Ottawa, Jill taught courses in International Marketing, International Buyer Behaviour, and International Business; regularly reviewed papers for academic journals and conferences; served as an elected VP for the Sprott PhD Association; and continues to work with former colleagues on academic papers for publication. Jill also served as a volunteer reading tutor at a local primary school in Ottawa, with the aim of encouraging a passion for reading and learning among Grade 1 & 2 students.
A seasoned marketer, Jill brings to FDU-Vancouver many years of international business experience working in over 30 countries and representing major multi-national companies such as Gillette, Bayer, Oral-B, Newell Rubbermaid, etc. During her corporate career, Jill held senior marketing management positions such as European Marketing Director for Home Fashion in Paris, Group Business Manager for Oral-B in London and Gillette Marketing Manager Eastern Europe in Warsaw, providing innumerable practitioner anecdotes with which to supplement course materials, and which has proved very popular with her students.
Jill also has a passion for arts & culture, and can often be seen at international film festivals. In addition, Jill is an avid sports fan — especially following soccer, rugby, tennis, and baseball. Jose Cid, Adjunct Professor, holds a doctorate from Case Western Reserve University in the USA and an engineering degree from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro in Brazil. Cid's passion for learning and education has been the driving force behind his career. He started in engineering research and development, finding solutions to technical problems and greatly increasing his employer's or client's bottom line.
Then he moved on to manage not only projects, but most importantly, people — the real reason projects transform plans into reality. He had the opportunity to see his visions become reality with the help of many, creating wealth in terms of money and quality of life. As a professor he has been helping people achieve higher goals in their professions and life. As an entrepreneur he invested and lead investments in composite manufacturing, engineering consulting, real estate, financial markets and online education.
The team behind those ventures were the reason for their successes. JAIRO CLOPATOFSKY GHISAYS
Jairo Raúl Clopatofsky Ghisays, Lecturer and former Consul General of Colombia in Vancouver (born 20 October 1961) is a Colombian politician. A Party of the U politician, Clopatofsky had served in the Congress of Colombia, as Senator and as Representative for the Capital District, and most recently as the 17th General Director of Coldeportes from 2010 to 2012.
In 1982 he suffered an automotive accident that left him paraplegic and bound to a wheelchair. In 2005 he went through an experimental stem cell transplant surgery procedure, using olfactory adult stem cells into the spinal cord. After 22 years of paraplegia, and loss of sensation from the waist down, Clopatofsky was able to regain sensation in his legs and successfully took his first steps thanks to physical therapy and the operation.
Clopatofsky studied at the Liceo de La Salle until 10th grade when he enrolled in the Cadet Naval Academy in Cartagena. He graduated from the Universidad de La Sabana with a Bachelor of Business Administration, and received a scholarship to study at Harvard University where he received a Master of Public Administration. He also realized specializations in Political Science from the Pontifical Xavierian University, and in Public Administration from the Center for Hemispheric Defense Studies at the National Defense University in the United States.
In 1988 Clopatofsky created the Independent Civic Movement, a Colombian political movement, aimed at countering the partisan political system of the time.
In 1991 he was elected to the Chamber of Representatives of Colombia for the term between 1991 and 1994 representing Bogotá. In 1994 Clopatofsky was elected to the Senate of Colombia for the period between 1994 and 1998. In 2002 he returned to the senate after winning in the legislative elections of 2002. His party then adhered to the Social National Unity Party which supported Álvaro Uribe to the presidency of Colombia.
In 2006 Clopatofsky was re-elected in the legislative elections of 2006. Clopatofsky is member of the Second Commission of the Senate which debates topics related to defense and international relations of Colombia, as well as participant in the Special Commission for Foreign Affairs.

Charles King, Adjunct Professor, has a professional background that includes over twenty years of experience in the real estate, corporate finance and finance industries, with a focus on financial analysis and real estate finance, working with public, non-profit and private sectors including the Urban Development Institute, Coopers & Lybrand and the City of Vancouver.

Michelle Miller, Adjunct Professor, is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 20 years' experience in public accounting and audit as well as in industry using both Canadian and American reporting standards. Michelle is experienced in the implementation of internal controls to satisfy SOX and C-SOX. In addition to achieving her BBA at Simon Fraser University (Accounting), Michelle holds the US CPA designation and completed her Executive Masters of Business Administration at Simon Fraser University. Michelle has worked in private and public service and distribution companies with a focus in manufacturing and international operations. She has been responsible for financial leadership in a variety of companies up to $1B in annual revenues and is currently working as a consulting CFO in the Vancouver area. Michelle is especially interested in strategy and human resources, as well as finance and operations.
Prior to working at FDU, Michelle was involved in the education of future accountants through the Society of Management Accountants (now CPABC) and Simon Fraser University. In addition she has been teaching introductory and intermediate accounting at the British Columbia Institute of Technology since 2000.

Dr. James Y. W. Tong is an Adjunct Professor at FDU. Under the sponsorship of the Sir Robert Black Scholarship Scheme administered by the Hong Kong Government, he was awarded the scholarship to take up his postgraduate studies in management at the University of Salford, England, and was conferred the degree of Master of Science in Management. His subsequent doctoral degrees include Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Nottingham, England, and Doctor of Business Administration from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. His doctoral research theses were in the areas of Quality and Effectiveness of Distance Education as well as Business Process Re-engineering.
On top of his sound academic qualifications, he has obtained professional designations of several leading chartered bodies in the United Kingdom. These include: Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, Chartered Institute of Transport, Chartered Institute of Marketing, and Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Hong Kong, a Certified General Accountant (CGA) of British Columbia, Canada, and Member of the Canadian Institute of Marketing (MCInst.M).
He commenced his full-time teaching career at the Hong Kong Technical College (now Hong Kong Polytechnic University) where he taught courses in business and management. He was formerly Senior Lecturer/Program Leader responsible for the general management and human resources management programs for the undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in business administration at the Open University of Hong Kong. His last academic position in Hong Kong was the Program Director of the Caritas Group being responsible for all the business and hospitality management programs leading to the awards of certificate, diploma, and Associate Degree as well as Higher National Diploma of the Business and Technical Education Council (BTEC) of the United Kingdom. He also conducted public seminars and lectures in sales and marketing, financial management, human resources management, business, and general management.
While in Vancouver, he was appointed Head of the Business Administration Department for a leading educational group, which was a private tertiary institution offering diploma, advanced diploma, bachelor's and master's degrees in hospitality management and business administration under the auspices of Lansbridge University and Central Michigan University. He was later appointed as a Lecturer in the Bachelor of Business Administration degree program at the Sprott-Shaw Degree College. He has written quite a number of academic papers on academic and management topics which were published and appeared in leading international journals.
In addition to his teaching career, he has extensive working experience at senior management levels in both private and public organizations, covering the disciplines of sales and marketing, administration, human resources management, and general management. During his time at Hong Kong Telecommunications Limited, he was the first local executive appointed as the Group Company Secretary.
In his community service, he joined the Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force and was promoted to the rank of Superintendent commanding a police district to carry out operational duties for maintenance of law and order.

Izelde Louise van Jaarsveld
Izelde Louise van Jaarsveld, Adjunct Professor, hails from Pretoria, South Africa, where she qualified as an attorney after completing BIUR (First Class) and LLB degrees (Cum Laude) at the University of Pretoria. A Commonwealth Scholarship recipient, Izelde completed a Masters in International Business Law at the University of Hull in north England. During this time a second scholarship enabled her to conduct research for her senior dissertation at the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
Before relocating to Vancouver, Izelde worked as an Associate Professor in banking law at the University of South Africa where she completed a Doctorate in International Banking and Business Law. In her LLD dissertation Dr. van Jaarsveld investigated the potential liability of a bank that fails to identity proceeds of crime. Her doctoral research enabled her to conduct comparative research at, amongst others, the Centre for Advanced Legal Studies in London (England), University of Columbia (New York), Southern Methodist University in Dallas (Texas) and the University of Western Ontario (London, Ontario).
Izelde subsequently authored two volumes on money laundering control, civil liability and banks in which she espouses a conservative yet sensible approach to mitigate risk for banks. A certified antimoney laundering specialist, Izelde advocates international research, cooperation and colloquies as tools to combat money laundering and terrorist financing.
Before joining FDU, Izelde worked in the Treasury and Payment Services division of the Bank of Montreal and as money laundering control analyst for an American fintech company.
In her spare time, Izelde enjoys skiing and hiking and kayaking with her labradoodle, Seagan. She also supports a variety of animal welfare causes including PETA.
