Veterans Day was commemorated at the Florham Campus on November 10 with a flag ceremony. The event was led by Brian Mauro, interim campus executive; and Martha Garcia, MBA’92 (Ruth), director of veteran services for outreach (Metro). The event featured a color-guard procession; a rendition of “The Star-Spangled Banner” by the FDU Chamber Choir, conducted by Allen Cohen, music (Flor); the playing of “Taps”; and a moment of silence.

On November 11, a ceremony hosted by Jeffrey Dunn, BA’10, MBA’13 (Flor), director of veteran services for operations (Metro), was held at the Metropolitan Campus. Among those who spoke at the event were Keith Watts, head, Veterans Network, Oppenheimer Fund, New York City. He hosted a visit of FDU veterans to his firm on November 7.

After the ceremony on campus, an FDU contingent joined the Veterans Day Parade in New York City.

The Office of Veteran Services has spearheaded a food drive for a Bergen County, N.J., food pantry that supports homeless veterans. New and unwrapped toys are also being collected through December to benefit the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. Donations may be placed in boxes outside the Office of Veteran Services on the first floor of Dickinson Hall.
