Emil Solimine to Be Honored at Charter Day, PINNACLE Society to Induct Five
Fairleigh Dickinson University will hold its 27th Annual Charter Day on Friday, June 10, at the Florham Campus. This year’s celebration will honor alumnus Emil Solimine, BS’75 (Ruth), president and chief executive officer of Spiniello Companies, a global construction company specializing in pipeline rehabilitation and infrastructure. The Charter Day reception will begin at 7 p.m., followed by dinner at 8 p.m. The PINNACLE Awards for alumni will be presented earlier that evening at 5 p.m.
Charter Day honors individuals who have distinguished themselves as outstanding leaders in their professions and their communities. Proceeds from this event support academic scholarships for undergraduate students at Fairleigh Dickinson. Since 1990, Charter Day activities have raised more than $9 million toward scholarships for motivated students. Charter Day Scholars are students who exhibit significant leadership on campus and in the larger community, who maintain the highest academic standards and show a personal commitment to developing the same leadership qualities Charter Day honorees have shown.
Solimine has served as president and chief executive officer of Spiniello Companies for the past 12 years. Prior to this, he founded and served as president and chief executive officer of Emar Group, Inc., and its sister company, Walsh Group, Inc., for 39 years.
Solimine has served as a member of the board of directors of several organizations such as the Strober Organization, MacGregor Sports Organization, DiGiorgio Corporation and National Community Bank, and was a member of the Executive Council of Continental Insurance Company. He founded and was a senior partner of Gemini Acquisition Group.
Solimine has been involved in philanthropic efforts as a member of the board of governors of Rutgers University, Hackensack University Medical Center, Deborah Hospital, the Eye Institute of New Jersey and the National Kidney Foundation of New York/New Jersey.
Among the numerous awards he has received are Man of the Year from Tiro A Segno, the oldest Italian-heritage organization in the United States, and Deborah Hospital; The PINNACLE Award from FDU; and an award from the Columbian Foundation. He has also been honored by the National Kidney Foundation of New York/New Jersey and the American Association of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta. Solimine serves on the Judicial Selection Committee for the Federal District of the Third Circuit.
