Metro Move-In Day Guide

Dear Residents,

Greetings from the Office of Residence Life! We are so very pleased to have you joining us in the residence halls for the 2017-2018 academic year. Our Move-In Day Guide contains important information for checking into the residence halls, at Fairleigh Dickinson University (Metropolitan Campus), for Fall 2017. Please review all of the below information carefully. All students are required to present a valid photo ID (Driver’s License, State ID, FDU ID, or Passport) at check-in.

My team and I look forward to meeting each of you, and your families, on your Move-In Day. Enjoy the remainder of your summer.

Best Regards,

Ruben C. Flores
Director of Residence Life

Checking Into Your Room

Our official Move-In Days will take place as per the following dates and times:

New International Students, Monday, August 21 from 10am to 5pm
         Location: Office of Residence Life

New Domestic Students, Saturday, August 26 from 9am to 4pm
         Location: SUB Multipurpose Room

         All Returning Students
, Sunday, August 27 from 9am to 4pm
         Location: SUB Multipurpose Room

All students are strongly advised to arrive early in the morning on their check-in day. If you require additional assistance with Financial Clearance (Enrollment Services) or Medical Clearance (Student Health Services), an early arrival will allow you the required time to be processed by Enrollment Services & Student Health prior to checking into your room. The check-in stations will close promptly at the designated time. Students that arrive close to an hour before closing time risk not being able to be assisted if they require Financial and/or Medical Clearance. Please arrive early to avoid any inconvenience.

Any student arriving on their move-in day, after check-in has ended for the day, will need to return the following business day to check-in at the Office of Residence Life between the hours of 10am and 4pm.

Early Arrivals

We are not able to receive early arrivals so please plan accordingly. It is important that you check-in on your official move-in day during the designated times. Residents arriving before their official move-in day will need to make arrangements at a local hotel until their move-in day.

Student Employees & In-Season Athletes:
Student employees, only from select departments/offices, and in-season athletes (Men's & Women's Soccer, Volleyball, Men's & Women's Cross-Country) approved for an early arrival should contact their sponsoring department directly, not the Office of Residence Life, to verify if their name will be included on the early arrival list.

Financial & Medical Clearance

Medical Clearance: All First-Year & New Students, and first-time resident students, will require medical clearance from FDU Student Health Services prior to moving in to the residence halls. Please make sure all of your required medical documents are submitted to Student Health Services prior to your move-in day.

Financial Clearance: All students will need to obtain financial clearance, prior to moving in to the residence halls, from the Office of Enrollment Services.

Valid Photo ID

All students are required to present a valid photo ID (Driver's License, State ID, Passport, or FDU ID) to gain admittance to the check-in station.

Your FDU ID Card

The ID card access system in the residence halls requires the use of your FDU student ID.

New Students will receive a new FDU ID card during the check-in process on their Move-In Day.

Returning Students should bring their FDU ID card, on their move-in day, for activation after the check-in process. Replacement ID cards will be available directly at the Department of Public Safety for $25.
