New Student Orientation for Parents
Parents of First Time in College (FTIC) or Transfer Students
9:15 AM to 3 PM on the first day of each New Student Orientation session.
New Student Orientation for Parents is optional and is not an overnight session.
On behalf of the University community, welcome to the FDU family!
We recognize the pivotal role that you play in your student's success. For this reason, you will attend sessions separate from your student that highlight university and academic services, student involvement opportunities, and discuss the transitions that your student and you will experience. In addition, you will receive an academic overview from the college of your student's major and will have an opportunity to speak with college representatives.
Remember, family members will not participate in any New Student Orientation activities after check-in.
This is a glimpse of some of the family orientation sessions that you will attend:
- Communicating with your students
- Student Health Services
- Career Development
- Housing and Residence Life
- Life as a Commuter Student
- Financial Aid
- Remaining Involved
Family members may choose to stay at area hotels, or perhaps, take advantage of FDU's proximity to New York City.
Again, welcome to the FDU family. The Orientation Staff looks forward to meeting you soon.
