How to Do Research
To find the books go to FDU.EDU. Next go to “Web Shortcuts” and select libraries from the drop down list. Then select “Search Library Catalog”. Type in your subject and click search. If your subject contains more than one word, go to “Advanced” then type in your subject and make sure it says “Subject” in the box labeled “Within.” You can also search by title, author, ISBN and call number. If you search by Author it is their last name first then their first name or first initial. If you search by title you will have to take out the leading article.
On the basic search page there is a drop down menu. You can select to search by author, title, call number and ISBN
When you do your search most entries will have a call number. Write down the call number and location and library. There are about six libraries that share the catalog. The pharmacy library books are only available to Pharmacy students. The books in Vancouver are only available to students in Vancouver. In addition some libraries are broken up into smaller areas. The Giovatto Library has the following areas, New Books, Stacks, Sammartino Room, Periodical Stacks and the Browsing Collection. The books in the Browsing Collection are labeled stacks, but they are from 2006 and newer.
If the book is not available on your campus. You can request the book to be sent to you. Open up the record. On the right hand side select make request and enter the required information and the book will be sent.
If we do not have the book you can request an interlibrary loan (ILL) On the right hand side of the main page select “Interlibrary Loan Books” and fill out the required information. The library will get it for you to borrow at no cost. Please be advised a book requested this way may take some time.
