Dates: January 6-18, 2015

Departure from Newark on January 6, 2015, arrival in Delhi on January 7, 2015 & airport pickup and check in at  the hotel.


Delhi 6 nights (January 7-12, 2015)

  • Old Delhi tour by Navina Jaffa (including Chandni Chowk, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, light & sound show at the Old Fort)
  • visit to other historic monuments (Qutab Minar, Humayun's tomb, Gandhi Smriti, India Gate, Lodi Gardens),
  • visit to other religious sites (Gurdwara Bangla Saheb, Bahai temple, Birla Mandir, Judah Hyam synagogue, Jain temple, Buddhist monastery)
  • visit to the National Museum with a lecture from its director
  • lecture on Indian society & culture by Professor Salil Mishra
  • visit to the National School of Drama with a lecture by the director on Indian theater and a performance
  • tour of the Rashtrapati Bhavan (the official residence of the President of India)
  • visit to the Indian Council for Cultural Relations for a lecture on classical music and dance with accompanying performances
  • visit to the Gadi Artists' Camp
  • visit to the Sahitya Akademi to meet writers, poets, and playwrights in residence

Agra 1 night (January 13, 2015)

  • travel out of Delhi by bus to reach Agra and check in at the hotel
  • visit to the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort, Sikander Fort, Fatehpur Sikri, Itmad-ud-Daulah's tomb

Jaipur 2 nights (January 14 & 15, 2015)

  • travel out of Agra by bus to reach Jaipur and check in at the hotel
  • visit to the Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Amber Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Govt. Central Museum, Anokhi Museum
  • visit to old markets
  • dinner at Chowki Dhani

Return to Delhi on January 16, airport drop off on January 17, 2015, arrival at Newark January 18, 2015
