Sam Michalowski appointed associate provost for institutional research and assessment
TEANECK, N.J. (December 14, 2016) — Fairleigh Dickinson University has named Sam Michalowski associate provost for institutional research and assessment, effective December 1, 2016.
“I am delighted to have Dr. Michalowski join FDU; he brings an expansive skillset to our institutional research operation and also has deep experience in benchmarking colleges and in utilizing survey data collected through surveys. He will be a great asset to the University and will be integral to our future planning efforts,” said University Provost Gillian Small.
Michalowski is skilled in gauging colleges using publicly available data (e.g. IPEDS), college system administrative data, and commercial test and survey data. He specializes in data visualization, regression analysis, data mining, and predictive analytics. He also brings an impressive track record in improving the response rates and utility of data collected through surveys.
He has presented his work regularly at local and national conferences. Before beginning his career in higher education, Michalowski worked in the K-12 arena as a teacher.
Michalowski earned his Ph.D. in sociology from the Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY) in 2004. His dissertation research was supported through a grant from the American Educational Research Association. He earned an M.S. in justice studies from Arizona State University and a B.A. in sociology and German from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He lives in Hudson County, NJ.
