Madison, N.J. (September 8, 2016) — Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Center for Cybersecurity and Information Assurance (CCIA) is pleased to announce its Fourth Annual Symposium on Cybersecurity and Internet of Things to be held on Wednesday, September 28, 2016 in Lenfell Hall at FDU’s Florham Campus.

This year’s theme is Internet of Things (IoT) and how academic institutions can partner to develop an education strategy to train students in defense of the ensuing cyber threats. The forum will feature distinguished speakers and panelists from academic, government and industry offering perspectives on the current status of IoT, security threats and business continuity. Attendees will gain an awareness of how billions of devices are connected to the internet and will ultimately acquire a sophistication enabling autonomous decision making; and how mal-use of massive IoT networks pose major challenges to the nation’s security, i.e., infrastructure, healthcare, power grids, etc.

The Keynote Speaker, Ron Ross, is a Fellow at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), where he leads the Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA) Implementation Project. He will share his extensive experience in developing guidelines for Trustworthy Secure systems.

Presenters include Christopher Rodriquez, Director, New Jersey Office of Homeland Security (OHSP); Mike Geraghty, NJ Director of Cybersecurity; Yingying (Jennifer) Chen, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Stevens Institute of Technology; and others. The Panel Discussion will be moderated by Michael Avaltroni, Dean, FDU School of Pharmacy and Associate Professor of Chemistry and joined by Dorian Pappas, Enterprise IA Architecture and Frameworks, National Security Agency (NSA); Ashutosh Dutta, Director of Technology Security at AT&T and others.
