FDU’s Rothman Institute will recognize outstanding examples of entrepreneurship in New Jersey with 2015 Family Business of the Year Awards

MADISON, N.J. (September 21, 2015) – Fairleigh Dickinson University’s nationally ranked Rothman Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship is set to host the 23rd Annual New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards on October 14, 2015.

The 2015 New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards will honor 15 companies at the annual awards luncheon at the Crystal Plaza on Wednesday, October 14. The companies being honored hail from all regions of the state and are split into two categories, based on annual sales:

Up to $10 Million in Annual Sales:

  • Behrman House Publishers, Springfield
  • COX Printers, Linden
  • Encore Catering, East Hanover
  • Family Investors Company, Fanwood
  • Giovanni's Deli, Fair Lawn
  • Mesob Ethiopian Restaurant, Montclair
  • Millers Pharmacy, Wyckoff
  • Things 4 Strings, Livingston

Over $10 Million in Annual Sales:

  • Bulbrite, Moonachie 
  • Cryofab, Kenilworth
  • H.M. Royal, Incorporated, Trenton
  • International American Supermarkets, Piscataway
  • Jack Daniels Porsche, Audi, Volkswagen and Kia, Upper Saddle River
  • Peerless Beverage Company, Union
  • Weidel Real Estate, Pennington

A panel of judges comprised of previous winners and members of the business community chose the companies that best exemplified a multigenerational impact on the community, perseverance, commitment to family, and business success. The semifinalists and finalists represent some of the very best of family business in NJ. Winners will be announced at the awards ceremony, and featured in the November issues of “New Jersey Monthly.”

The Master of Ceremonies will be Gene C. Waddy, a entrepreneur and owner of Diversant LLC, the nation’s largest African-American owned IT staffing and solutions firm. Waddy was named the 2013 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year New Jersey winner, as well as a 2011 NJBIZ Executive of the Year Finalist. Gene attended Fairleigh Dickinson University where he earned his B.S. in mechanical engineering.

The New Jersey Family Business of the Year Awards recognize the significant contributions to the economy and community made by New Jersey family businesses whose innovative strategies and business practices have had a positive impact on the state and local economy, and on society.
