Theater columnist Michael Riedel to speak at FDU’s Gene Barnett Speaker Series
Teaneck, NJ (March 21, 2016) – The Gene Barnett Literary Speaker Series of Fairleigh Dickinson University will feature celebrated journalist Michael Riedel on Tuesday, April 12, 2016. In his talk,“Razzle Dazzle: How a Colorful Band of Broadway Characters Helped Saved New York City,” he will discuss the highlights of the present Broadway season.
Before working at the New York Post since 1998, he wrote features at the New York Daily News and was the managing editor of Theater World. Since 1993 he has been co-host of the weekly PBS show “Theater Talk,” which features in-depth conversations with actors, writers and others working in the theater today.
In 2015, Riedel published Razzle Dazzle: The Battle for Broadway, a history of the producers, directors, shows, actors and artists battling for the creative and financial control of Broadway in the 1970s and 1980s. Huffington Post critic Michael Levin has written that “Razzle Dazzle is by far the best, the most thorough and most fun book ever written about the Great White Way.”
The lecture will be held on Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at 8 p.m., in the Wilson Auditorium, Dickinson Hall, on the Hackensack side of the Metropolitan Campus. Copies of Riedel’s books will be available for sale and signing after the Q & A session.
The evening is open to the general public with donation at $10 per person. Tickets will be available at the door starting at 7:15 p.m. on the night of the lecture. The cost is free to faculty, staff and students with valid FDU IDs. There are no advanced ticket sales or reserved seating.
