Governor Richard J. Codey Classroom dedicated
A renovated classroom on the second floor of Hennessy Hall, Florham Campus, had been named the Governor Richard J. Codey Classroom in honor of FDU alumnus Richard Codey, BA’81, former New Jersey governor and state senate president and a current state senator.
Codey was one of the most popular governors with approval ratings between 65 and 70 percent. A strong advocate for mental health awareness, he negotiated construction of MetLife Stadium and created the position of inspector general. A big basketball fan, he is very proud of the Devils' women’s basketball team's national championship.
The Friends of Florham helped fund the Codey Classroom, provided design oversight and spent many hours supervising the project. The room was dedicated at the Friends annual gala. The Florham Campus facilities department assisted in many ways from installing fixtures to general mechanic Ismael Torres constructing a custom built-in bookshelf for the classroom.
