Bill Klika, RSCC*E, C.S.C.S., SSC, USAW - Now in his 19th year at Fairleigh Dickinson, Bill Klika has taken FDU's strength program from its humble beginnings in old Vanderbilt Gym to its current facility in the Ferguson Recreation Center. He is a certified strength and conditioning specialist and has a masters degree in teaching from FDU, along with a B.A. from Lehigh University. As an active member of the National Strength & Conditioning Association, Bill is a sought after speaker for clinics and presentations. In 2015, Klika was recognized by the National Strength & Conditioning Association as a "registered strength & conditioning coach emeritus", putting him in the most elite category of practicing strength & conditioning experts in the world. Bill lives in Long Valley with his wife Kerry and sons William, Winslow, and Walker.
Bill is a USA Weightlifting club coach, having started the "Devils Training Hall" here at FDU. This Hall includes the Devils Weightlifting Team, an olympic lifting club where all people are welcome to train. The weightlifting club has grown by leaps and bounds, and now claims over 60 active and alumni members. FDU lifters have competed locally, nationally, and even on the international stage.
The long time FDU employee is no stranger to the coaching world outside of the weight room. Klika began his coaching career as a graduate assistant in baseball and football on the Madison campus in 1993, working his way up to Co- Head Baseball Coach in 1998. FDU enjoyed tremendous success while he was on staff, racking up 99 wins during those five seasons, as well as the baseball program's only NCAA tournament appearance.
On the football side of the ledger, Klika coached defensive backs, linebackers, and eventually served as the Defensive Coordinator in 2001. Klika had Three Third Team All - Americans and six First Team All-Conference selections under his tutelage at FDU. The football program had team success as well, earning the school's only post-season berths during his tenure.
Klika left the Devils to return to his alma mater, Lehigh University, to coach in 2002. While at Lehigh from 2002 - 2005, Klika was the assistant special teams coach, and had one All Patriot League selection at kicker. Bill enjoyed being a part of his alma mater's success, witnessing a 33-13 record and an NCAA tournament appearance as part of Head Coach Pete Lembo's staff.
