Credentials, capsule biography:

Dr. Vicki L. Cohen, Director of the School of Education, is Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She received her Ed.D. from Teachers College, Columbia University in Communications, Computing and Technology in Education. She has a Masters Degree from Teachers College, Columbia University in Curriculum and Instruction and from University of Florida in Special Education. Dr. Cohen taught for more than seven years in public schools as a learning disabilities teacher and has worked for the past twenty-five years at Fairleigh Dickinson University as a professor and administrator. Dr. Cohen’s area of specialization is literacy instruction, technology implementation and its affect on the reading/writing process, problem-based learning, and assessment. She has published extensively in these areas and has presented at regional, national and international conferences on her research. She is co-author of the literacy textbook, Literacy for Children in an Information Age; Teaching Reading, Writing and Thinking (Cengage, 2010). She teaches courses on problem-based learning using sustainability themes.

Dr. Cohen is the Project Director on grants from the Alcoa Foundation and the Bayer Foundation. Her research focuses on  working with teachers to develop problem-based learning units using sustainability themes, which they implement in their classrooms. She teaches two required graduate courses in literacy development within the School of Education.

Dr. Vicki L. Cohen, Director of the School of Education, is Professor at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She received her Ed.D.and MA from Teachers College, Columbia University. Dr. Cohen’s areas of research are literacy instruction, technology implementation, problem-based learning, and assessment.  She teaches two required graduate courses in literacy development within the School of Education. Dr. Cohen is Project Director of an Alcoa Foundation grant and a Bayer Foundation Grant that focuses on training teachers to integrate problem-based learning using sustainable themes into their curriculum.
