Mary J. Goepfert

Mary J. Goepfert is a recently retired staff member of the NJ State Police Office of Emergency Management.She served the NJOEM for 28 years. She was the External Affairs Officer/Access and Functional Needs Liaison for the NJOEM, involved in Media/Community/Intergovernmental Relations and Access and Functional Needs Planning.

She had also served as an Instructor and Instructional Designer in the NJOEM Field Training Unit, and chaired the NJ Group for Access and Integration Needs in Emergencies and Disasters (NJ GAINED)and other programs related to disaster preparedness for persons with disabilities, older adults and others with access and functional needs. She held the role of Exercise Coordinator in the Radiological Emergency Response Preparedness Unit, responsible for emergency preparedness in and around the areas surrounding the state's nuclear generating stations.

She holds a BA in Social Work, and a Master's in Public Administration from Rutgers University. Mary is a NJ Certified Public Manager (CPM) and holds an Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) from the Public Relations Society of America.Inspired by working on addressing the disaster-related needs of older adults and people with disabilities, she later returned to Rutgers for a Masters in Clinical Social Work and became a Licensed Social Worker.She currently works as a Social Worker in a behavioral health setting.

Mary has been teaching for the FDU MAS program since January 2002 and the FDU MSHS Program since July 2008.She also served as an adjunct instructor for the NJ Department of Personnel Human Resources Development Institute for several years. She is currently an adjunct instructor at the Rutgers School of Social Work School of Continuing Education.Mary is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and the NJ Society for Clinical Social Work.
