James A. Keane

James A. Keane is the Supervisor, Safety Management of the Treasury Department's Risk Management Team. His career with the Port Authority spans more than 21 years and during that period he has gained valuable operational and managerial experience in the Aviation, Tunnels, Bridges & Terminals, Port-Commerce, Management & Budget, and Treasury Departments within the agency.

During his career in the agency, Mr. Keane has distinguished himself in a number of appointments at the Port Authority Bus Terminal, Lincoln Tunnel, Holland Tunnel, John F. Kennedy International Airport, World Trade Center, Newark International Airport, New York Marine Terminals, LaGuardia Airport, and the Port Authority Technical Center. In addition to working full-time he earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice at Jersey City State College and then continued his formal education at Fairleigh Dickinson University culminating in a Masters Degree in Public Administration. He has supplemented his formal education with a number of specialized training courses.

Within the Port Authority of NY & NJ the Risk Management group is charged with safeguarding Port Authority patrons, tenants, employees and property. Mr. Keane and the team of professionals in the Safety Management Group accomplish the protection of both individuals and property through various Risk Control and Risk Financing activities. In addition, he is a member of the agency's Disaster Response Team which responds to all significant events that affect our operations. For example, after the bombing at New York's World Trade Center, he managed Risk Management's day-to-day on-site operations as the liaison between law enforcement, World Trade Management, the agency's insurers, and adjusters working on behalf of the insurance companies.

Since 1991, James has also been an adjunct faculty member of Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University College of Continuing Education. He instructs at both the Federal Aviation Administration Technical Center and McGuire Air Force Base, both located in New Jersey.
