Credentials, capsule biography:
Duff has been a New York City Metro area veteran broadcaster and programming pro since 1970. Currently, he is General Manager & Program Director of WFDU-FM : Public Radio For the NYC Metro Area. The station is located just 5 miles across the George Washington Bridge connecting Manhattan to the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University. Duff can also teach a thing or two - having been a professor of radio and TV broadcasting, public speaking and drama for 22 years. As a 1974 FDU graduate, Duff takes particular pride in guiding the radio station he helped establish in 1971 (his office today was his dorm room in 1970!). Surfing remains a passion:
Duff cut his broadcast teeth at WXLO - 99X answering the request line. But upon graduation from FDU in 1974, he was offered the Production Manager's position at the "X" during the heyday of FM radio in NYC. He added on-air DJ and talk show host to his resume in the 80s. He left the The Big Apple in 1990 to return to his roots at WFDU. The list of stations that benefited from his expertise include: WXLO-99X, WOR-AM, The RKO Radio Networks, WNNNN-BC 66AM, WMCA-AM and the CBS Radio-Radio Network.
Duff absolutely enjoys his role as leader of the WFDU Broadcast Media department, guiding the station into the next phase of radio with 5 times the transmission power over the NYC Metro area, with a new potential audience of 8.2 million people. The addition of an HD (Hybrid Digital) transmitter will allow 3 separate channels of WFDU: "The Essential WFDU HD1", "Jazz & What's More on WFDU HD2" and classical music on "Masterworks on WFDU HD3". All channels will be on the air and streaming on the web and smartphone apps including affiliation with iHeartRadio.
He also owns and operates Sheffield Studios in Mahwah, NJ
