Clinical Sites for Graduate Nursing Students

Some of the clinical agency affiliations where our students do their clinics are listed below.

MSN students are able to choose their clinical preceptors with the assistance from the faculty of School of Nursing. MSN students do clinical practice in a variety of primary care facilities. Many choose to work with nurse practitioners, others work with physicians in private practice.

Clinical Sites for Nursing Certificate Program Students

Clinical Sites for Doctor of Nursing Practice Students

DNP students will choose their own residency sites. The School of Nursing and Allied Health will prepare a contract with the agency upon notification by the student.

Clinical Sites for Undergraduate and Graduate Medical Technology Students

The University now has affiliations with six approved programs of medical technology as listed below. Upon the successful completion of a 12- to 15-month training period, students are eligible to receive 32 credits toward the Bachelor of Science degree. The approved programs offer similar programs of training, although conditions may vary slightly from site to site.

The affiliated programs of medical technology in New Jersey are:

  • Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, New Jersey
  • Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, New Jersey
  • Morristown Memorial Hospital, Morristown, New Jersey
  • The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), School of Health- Related Programs*
  • Valley Hospital, Ridgewood, New Jersey

* This program is part of a joint degree program and is 15 months in duration through the Clinical Laboratory Sciences program.

Clinical Sites for Undergraduate Clinical Laboratory Sciences Students

Clinical/professional courses (45 credits)* are taken at UMDNJ. Students in the program work closely with their academic adviser to insure timely that the appropriate course work is taken and that timely applications for admission are filed. Admissions decisions for the clinical program are made in accordance with criteria, policies and procedures established by a joint Committee on Admissions and Academic Status for the degree program and cannot be guaranteed by Fairleigh Dickinson University. Students admitted to the clinical program must maintain a minimum grade point ratio of 2.75 in their remaining prerequisite courses at Fairleigh Dickinson University subsequent to admission.

The professional component, which begins in June of each year, is 15 months (four semesters) in duration and is offered by UMDNJ-SHRP. The curriculum covers all major areas of medical laboratory science/medical technology with additional experiences provided in laboratory management, education, research, instrumentation, computers, health care issues, and human & professional values. On- and off-campus practical experiences are incorporated to compliment classroom instruction.
