Program outcomes
The MA in TESL/TEFL Program produces teaching candidates who are:
  1. Qualified to teach subject matter;
  2. Competent in pedagogy;
  3. Caring professionals;
  4. Technologically proficient;
  5. Culturally responsive to the needs of diverse learners;
  6. Reflective practitioners who embrace the concept of lifelong learning
  7. Prepared to obtain language instructor positions in a range of contexts, both local and global.
Educational objectives
Upon completion of the program, MA in TESL/TEFL candidates will:
  1. Implement research-based best practices in effective instruction to increase language achievement of all students;
  2. Be competent professionals who can recognize and design instruction that is appropriate for the linguistic and cultural needs of students in the teaching context;
  3. Demonstrate the InTASC standards in performance, essential knowledge, and disposition;
  4. Develop and deliver instruction that is based on formal content standards appropriate to the teaching context;
  5. Continuously assess students and use student data to differentiate instruction according to language development level of individual students ;
  6. Develop personal and professional qualities consistent with leadership positions in multicultural settings both globally and locally.
