M.A.CT. - Math. Education Specialist Certificate (MES)


This 18-credit certificate program is designed for elementary and middle school teachers who are interested in being highly qualified in the subject area of mathematics for the state of New Jersey.  The certificate provides 15 credits in mathematics to comply with state requirements for middle school teachers who teach mathematics.  An additional course in technology is required for the FDU certificate. The candidate may enroll in the full M.A. in education for certified teachers and complete the 12 credits for a New Jersey Supervisor License after three successful years of teaching.  Students will gain a deeper insight into the foundational nature and structure as well as the history of mathematics appropriate for K-8 students.  This program was created for teachers whose undergraduate major was not mathematics.
