|Fairleigh Dickinson offers a variety of programs, described below, which train teachers in the use of the Orton Gillingham approach, an explicit, direct, multisensory structured, phonetic approach to teaching reading, writing and spelling. The Language Tool Kit is the specific curriculum presented. Extensive and supervised practicum are an essential component of each program.|
Dyslexia Specialist Certificate (30 credits)
The Dyslexia Specialist Certificate is a program tailored for regular classroom teachers and teachers of special education who wish to develop comprehensive knowledge and extensive experience in the Orton Gillingham approach to teaching reading, spelling and handwriting. The program includes courses on theory and practice required for effective educational intervention for students with dyslexia.

The Orton Gillingham Dyslexia Specialist Training Course provides a continuum of programs for teachers who want to develop beginning to advanced expertise in the Orton Gillingham approach or who wish to become teacher trainers. These programs are nationally accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC)*.
* The International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) provides national accreditation to programs that prepare specialists in multisensory structured language education.
