MSEE Online Degree Requirements


The 30-credit online MSEE features the same degree requirements as our traditional in-class MSEE. A total of ten 3-credit courses must be successfully completed to earn the degree.

International students may be required to take an additional course, English for Professional Success, to further improve their English proficiency and academic success.

All students must choose a primary area of specialization and a secondary area of specialization from the following three tracks:

  1. Digital Signal Processing and Communications
  2. Computers
  3. Devices and Systems

The credits are distributed as follows:

  1. 12 credits of core requirements, consisting of 6 credits from both the primary and secondary areas of specialization.
  2. 6 credits of specialization requirements from the primary area of specialization.
  3. 6 credits of specialization electives from the primary area of specialization.
  4. 6 credits of electives in electrical engineering. Other science and engineering courses, numbered 6000 or higher, and a 3-credit internship may be taken with the director’s permission.
  5. A thesis is optional. If a student selects EENG7803, EENG7804 Research and Thesis (a total of 6 credits), only 3 elective credits may be taken.
