Undergraduate Certificate in ORACLE DBA Certification

The Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) program was developed by Oracle Corp. to recognize technical professionals who demonstrate the knowledge and hands-on skills required to support Oracle's core products according to a standard established by Oracle Corp. If you don't have work experience with Oracle and are looking to get into the field, you need to get certified because most employers won't even interview you without it.

Each OCP track is composed of one to five exams. Each exam challenges students to apply specific knowledge to real-world scenarios. Currently, Oracle has certification programs for DBAs and application developers.

This course of study prepares the student to take the Oracle Database SQL certification exam (IZO-001). ODU certification indicates a foundation in and apprentice knowledge of the interactive use of the Oracle database system in both a Windows 2000 and Unix environment. SQL (Structured Query Language) is the major access methodology utilized throughout. Courses have been carefully designed to follow Oracle Academic Initiative (OAI) curriculum. Some students may complete these courses as a way to prepare for Oracle's certification exam. Others will enroll as an avenue for advancement in their current jobs. As students who have completed these courses go out into the community, we expect employers to recognize the high skill level that these certificates represent.

This certification holds many benefits for the aspiring Oracle DBA. Potential employers are interested in candidates with work experience which makes finding that first job is the dilemma of many career changers. The project that is required for certification gives the candidate the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills learned in class. Graduates will feel more confident about their skills and employers will know that their Oracle skills go beyond book knowledge and test taking.
