Job Summary 

This internship position is a non-paid internship.  The intern will receive three credits from Fairleigh Dickinson for a minimum of 20-hour a week internship.  The internship will take place at the Teaneck Community Charter School, located at 563 Chestnut Avenue, Teaneck NJ 07666.  We are seeking an intern who is full of great ideas and interested in contributing on a large scale and wants to work in a community environment.  The intern will help to improve the programs and services of the Teaneck Community Charter School district by integrating the district with the community. The intern is responsible for the coordination of a comprehensive two-way communication process involving both internal and external publics, with the goal of stimulating a better understanding of the role, objectives, accomplishments and needs of the school district.  


  • Intern should be a junior or senior, in an area relevant to coordinating and directing school/community relations such as public relations, mass communication, business/vocational education, or equivalent education and experience 
  • Previous experience in a public school environment preferred 
  • Experience in development/oversight in collaborative chool/community programming and two-way networking 
  • Working knowledge of internal and external communication strategies 
  • Mastery of communication skills (verbal, written, and interpersonal) 
  • oficiency with current technology for performance of duties; including graphics design and publication/print software 
  • Evidence of strong analytical and critical thinking and judgment skills 

Duties shall include but not be limited to: 

  • Assist the school administration in assessing and interpreting public attitudes

  2. Be able to demonstrate sample work/campaigns you have designed.
  3. Be able to demonstrate fluent use of at least 5 social media platforms.
  4. Familiarity with social media management platforms like Hootsuite.
  5. Graphic design ability a plus.
  6. Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week from time of hire through mid-December 2015.
  7. Be a self-starter who can take direction, organize workflow, and deliver on deadlines.
  8. Be hungry for opportunity and challenges.
