Communication Program Degree Requirements

The B.A. in communications requires 120 credits. The major requires 39 credits in four required major courses, one three-credit course from each of the four theme groups, and twelve credits of communication elective courses. The four required courses are:

  • Communication Theory
  • Digital Storytelling
  • Professional Communication
  • Investigating Communication: Research Methods
  • Senior Communication Seminar

Students are required to select one course from each of the following theme groups:

  • Theory
  • Writing
  • Advertising/Public Relations
  • Film and Video 

In addition to the twenty-four credits of major and theme courses, a student may elect to build a concentration or a specialization is a specific area within the communication major with the nineteen credits of communication electives.
