Silberman College is a recognized center of excellence for accounting and tax education, with a long history of providing innovative educational programs that meet the needs of the accounting profession and its practitioners.
The MS in accounting degree features two tracks. Completion of either track will academically qualify students to take the CPA exam and meet licensing requirements.
The first track, part of the College's 150-hour accounting degree, is designed for students who have an undergraduate major or concentration in accounting. This track was recognized with the American Accounting Association's prestigious Innovation in Accounting Education Award. The other track is tailored to students who do not have an undergraduate background in accounting but desire to focus in this area at the graduate level.
Silberman College has one of the state's oldest and largest programs leading to the Master of Science in Taxation (MST). The MST is highly focused and practice-oriented, dedicated exclusively to the study of taxation.
In scope, it is much more specific than the traditional course of study pursued in an MBA with only a concentration in taxation. The MST provides both the theoretical background and technical expertise needed to succeed as a tax professional. It is suitable for practicing accountants and attorneys, financial planners, recent accounting graduates, and non-accountants wishing to enter the field of taxation.
