Graduate Certificate Course Requirements

All courses are two credits unless noted as three credit courses.

Courses marked with * can be completed as part of the MBA curriculum.

Accounting

For a Certificate in Accounting, students must complete the following five courses (13 credits).

  • ACCT 5012: Financial Accounting – End User *
  • ACCT 6012: Managerial Accounting Applications *
  • ACCT 6630: Intermediate Financial Accounting (3 credits)
  • ACCT 6640: Advanced Financial Accounting (3 credits)
  • ACCT 6635: Contemporary Accounting Thought (3 credits)

In addition, students have to complete any two courses (6 credits) from the following list:

  • ACCT 6617: Cost: Measurement, Plan & Control (3 credits )
  • ACCT 6618: Auditing Concepts and Methods (3 credits)
  • ACCT 6605: Federal Income Tax I – Individual (3 credits)
  • ACCT 6606: Federal Income Tax II – Business Entities (3 credits)

Finance

For a Certificate in Finance, students must complete the following six courses (12 credits):

  • FIN 5012: Principles of Finance*
  • FIN 6012: Corporate Finance*
  • ECON 6012: Managerial Economics*
  • FIN 6701: Strategic Financial Decisions
  • FIN 6721: Financial Markets and investments
  • FIN 6731: Portfolio Management

In addition, students will be required to complete any three courses (6 credits) from an approved list of finance electives:

  • FIN 6742: Global Finance
  • FIN 6751: Mergers and Acquisitions
  • FIN 6112: Finance Decisions for a Sustainable Enterprise
  • FIN 6800: Graduate Independent Study in Finance
  • FIN 6801: Seminar in Corporate Finance

International Business

For a Certificate in International Business, students must complete the following five courses (10 credits):

  • ECON 5012: Economic Analysis*
  • MKTG 5012: Marketing Principles*
  • ECON 6012: Managerial Economics*
  • IBUS 6012: International Business Concepts
  • IBUS 6020: Economics of International Trade

In addition, students have to complete any four courses (8 credits) from the following list:

  • IBUS 6706: International Marketing
  • IBUS 6072: International Management
  • IBUS 6742: Global Finance
  • IBUS 6800: Graduate Independent Study in International Business

Management

For a Certificate in Management, students must complete the following seven courses (14 credits):

  • MGMT 5012: Foundations of Management*
  • MGMT 6012: Organization Behavior*
  • MGMT 6112: Managing Sustainability in a Global Environment
  • MGMT 6621: Strategic Human Resource Management
  • MGMT 6633: Leadership & Change Management
  • MGMT 6640: Leadership Development project
  • MGMT 7012: Global Business Capstone*

In additon, students have to complete the following two courses (4 credits) from the following list:

  • MGMT 6625: Managing a Healthy Workforce
  • MGMT 6700: Negotiation and Conflict Management
  • MGMT 6800: Graduate Independent Study in Management

Marketing

For a Certificate in Marketing, students must complete the following five courses (10 credits):

  • MKTG 5012: Marketing Principles*
  • MKTG 6012: Marketing Management*
  • ENTR 6012: Entrepreneurship and Innovation*
  • MKTG 6602: Marketing Research
  • MKTG 6603: Consumer Behavior

Pharmaceutical Management

For a Certificate in Pharmaceutical Management, students must complete the following five courses (12 credits):

    or DSCI 6012: Supply Chain Management*
  • PHAR 6601: Health Systems and Policy (3 credits)
  • PHAR 6602: Managing the Value Proposition (3 credits)

In addition, students have to complete any three courses (6 credits) from the following list:

  • PHAR 6606: Structure, Regulation, and Strategy of the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • PHAR 66151: Pharmaceutical Marketing and Product Development
  • PHAR 6640: Management of Research & Technology in the Pharmaceutical Industry
  • PHAR 66502: Management of Production, Purchasing, and Quality Control in the Pharmaceutical Industry
