In addition, business and nonprofit leaders at medium-sized businesses and nonprofits better understood how to more effectively develop and implement programs and policies to help them better manage the rising cost of healthcare.

Cavan M. Redmond is Group President, Animal Health, Consumer Healthcare and Corporate Strategy. Redmond is a member of Pfizer's Executive Leadership Team and is responsible for three diverse businesses in addition to leading Pfizer's enterprise-wide Strategy, Portfolio Management and Analysis, as well as Continuous Improvement efforts. In addition, Redmond serves as Pfizer's Executive Sponsor of the Diversity and Inclusion Worldwide Leadership Council. Redmond has more than 20 years of health care experience spanning consumer health, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology where he has extensive experience turning science and technology into successful global products. Before joining Pfizer, Redmond was President of Wyeth Animal Health and Consumer Healthcare where he focused iconic brands such as Centrum and Advil, two of the Top 10 OTC products worldwide, and was responsible for all facets of the division's global operations and research and development. He was also a member of the Management, Operations, Human Resources/Benefits, and the Law and Regulatory Committees of Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

Dr. Richard Popiel is President and Chief Operating Officer of Horizon Healthcare Innovations, a Division within Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey. His scope of responsibilities include managing all aspects of the division whose purpose is to launch new models of reimbursement and care delivery with network providers. This Division will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Horizon BCBSNJ in September. He continues to serve as a member of the Board of Directors of Horizon Healthcare of New Jersey. He is also a member of the Board of the New Jersey Sharing Organization (local Organ Procurement Organization), the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, and the George Washington University Alumni Association. Dr. Popiel earned multiple degrees while attending George Washington University in Washington, D.C., including a Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Medicine. In addition, he earned a Masters in Business Administration from Northwestern University Kellogg School of Management in Chicago.

David J. Shulkin, M.D.,  is President of Morristown Medical Center, a 695 bed comprehensive healthcare organization, part of  Atlantic Health. In 2011, for the third year, he was named one of the “50 Most Influential Physician Executives in the Country” by Modern Healthcare and Modern Physician. Previously, Dr. Shulkin was named to the “One Hundred Most Influential People in American Healthcare” by Modern Healthcare. Prior to coming to MMC, he was the President and CEO of  Beth Israel Medical Center in New York, where he led a financial turnaround and rebuild of the $1.3 billion. Dr. Shulkin has served in numerous physician leadership roles including the Chief Medical Officer of the University of Pennsylvania Health System, the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, Temple University Hospital, and the Medical College of Pennsylvania Hospital. As an entrepreneur he founded and served as the Chairman and CEO of DoctorQuality, Inc. Dr. Shulkin received his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania, his internship at Yale University School of Medicine, and a residency and Fellowship in General Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Medical Center.

Simon J. Samaha, M.D., is President and Chief Executive Officer of Summit Medical Group, the largest independently operated, multi-specialty medical practice in New Jersey.An experienced executive leader, Dr. Samaha possesses a wealth of strategic planning, operations, business development, information systems and fiscal expertise. Most recently, Dr. Samaha served as Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, NJ, where his responsibilities included oversight of the 375-member University Physicians Practice. Dr. Samaha received his MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business, his MS in Information Systems from Drexel University and was named as one of Modern Healthcare magazine's "2001 Up and Comers." He received his medical degree from Saint Joseph University in Lebanon, is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and practiced in Internal Medicine until 2004.

Laura Landy guides the Fannie E. Rippel Foundation’s commitment to “Seeding Innovations in Health” in her role as President and CEO (2006) and as a member of the Board of Trustees (1998). She is founder and Chair of ReThink Health, a Foundation initiative which works with renowned change agents from diverse sectors to bring new thinking to how we achieve better health, better care, and lower costs. ReThink Health’s action-research projects develop models and tools to foster the leadership and environments required for successful innovation and sustainable change. As President of Applied Concepts, a consulting firm she established in 1983, Ms. Landy brought business and strategic thinking to the dynamic interface between social issues and market realities. Included among her many health-related activities in the state were the redesign of New Jersey’s local public health system and a partnership with AT&T applying emerging technology to healthcare administration.She was recently elected a Fellow of the New York Academy of Medicine.

Dr. Judith Kutzleb - Nurse Practitioner, Adult Medical Clinic; FDU Professor of Nursing

Kutzleb120 LOGOJudith Kutzleb is a part of the Adult Medical Clinic, a Nurse Practitioner run practice at Holy Name Medical  Center, where Dr. Kutzleb has integrated FDU professors who hold credentials as Nurse Practitioners into the clinic. Her background encompasses over 30 years in the field of critical care nursing and 10 years in academia. She is currently a Professor of Nursing at Fairleigh Dickinson University where she is the coordinator of the graduate program in advanced practice nursing, and is also clinical adjunct faculty at Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine NY, NY. She received her Doctor in Nursing Practice at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Kutzleb is the founder of the “Healthy Hearts Initiative” at Holy Name Medical Center for which the focus is to provide comprehensive in-patient and out-patient education on the non-pharmacological disease self management of heart failure by an Advanced Practice Nurse Team.

Harry Reynolds - Director, Health Industry Transformation, IBM 

Harry Reynolds is currently the Director of Health Industry Transformation for IBM GlobalHarryReynolds3 LOGO
Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry. During the past 18 months in this role, Harry has worked with providers, payers and governments on health policy transformation and strategy.Previously, Harry was a Vice President and Information Compliance Officer at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina. Harry has 42 years of experience in the technology and healthcare areas. He started his career with IBM, worked at two large teaching hospitals (Ohio State and UNC), and worked for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina for 32 years. Harry managed all aspects of information technology at BCBS of NC, as well as a $500 million business unit that served 450,000 customers. He was also responsible for administration and planning for information systems as well as the coordination of large enterprise-wide compliance projects. Harry currently serves as Chair on the Council for Affordable Quality Healthcare (CAQH) CORE Initiative, and Chair of the Finance and Sustainability committee for Illinois HIE.
