Biography

Umme Habiba joined the School of Pharmacy in June 2015 as Coordinator for Health Science Laboratory Operations. Umme is responsible for all day-to-day operations of laboratory facilities at the School of Pharmacy. She is delighted to join an outstanding team and hopes to contribute her skills and experience to all faculty and students.

Umme Habiba has received both her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science from Montclair State University. During her graduate studies, Umme studied the green tea polyphenol LTP (Lipophilic Tea Polyphenol) and its synergistic effect as an antimicrobial agent. Umme Habiba is co-author of a publication in Advances in Bioscience and Biotechnology titled “The synergistic effects of green tea polyphenols and antibiotics against potential pathogens”. During her graduate degree she taught Principles of Biology I, Principles of Biology II and Anatomy & Physiology laboratory sections to undergraduate students. She further continued her passion for education as Adjunct Professor at Caldwell College and Berkeley College. Umme has also worked as Associate Scientist II at Admera Health, LLC., a personalized medicine company. Umme was part of the launch of an innovative pharmacogenomic panel test that is able to determine a patient’s metabolic response to certain drugs. With her background in molecular biology she was able to process patient samples for next generation sequencing.

Umme is looking forward to all the great achievements and future milestones to come at the School of Pharmacy.
