BA in Interdisciplinary Studies - Faculty

Larry Winters, Director,holds a Ph.D. in philosophy and sociology from New School University, with an emphasis on philosophy of science and issues of creativity and innovation. He has published articles and books on various areas of continental thought as well as a number of translations from the French.

Madera Edwards is the Assistant Director of Interdisciplinary Studies. She has a degree in Music History from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. She also has a Masters in Philosophy from Drew University in New Jersey and a Masters in African American History from Eastern Michigan University. She is concluding work on her Doctoral dissertation in Intellectual History entitled "Somewhere in the Middle" - The Story of Plainfield, New Jersey: Riots and Racial Reconciliation at Drew. Professor Edwards has an extended history with FDU and is an active faculty member and advisor for student organizations on the Metropolitan and Florham campuses.

Richard Castellana, formerly director of the B.A. in Interdisciplinary Studies program, is Professor Emeritus of Humanities and Fine Arts. He holds an A.B. in Biology from Harvard University and a Ph.D. in Economics from New School University, and studied at The New York Studio School for Painting, Drawing and Sculpture. He has published articles dealing with economic justice, and exhibits his paintings at the Blue Mountain Gallery in New York City.
