Online AA Curriculum

Students completing the requirements for the online Associate in Arts degree are required to demonstrate proficiency in the following areas.

I. Communication, Mathematics and Computer Skills
Requirement: 12 credits

The ability to use the English language, the ability to understand and use basic mathematical symbols and the mastery of basic computer skills are required of all students in the program.

ENGL 1111 Literature & Composition I (3 credits)
ENGL 1112 Literature & Composition II (3 credits)
MATH 1131 College Mathematics I or MATH 1141 Mathematical Methods (3 credits)
MIS 1135 Intro to Computers (3 credits)

II. Liberal Arts and Sciences
Requirement: 27 credits

Students are exposed to social, scientific, aesthetic, moral and religious ideas.

Humanities ( 18 credits)
At least three of the following areas must be represented:

• Cultural Arts or Film
• Fine Arts
• Literature
• History
• Philosophy

Social Sciences (6 credits )
At least two of the following areas must be represented:

• Economics
• Psychology
• Sociology

Natural Sciences (3 credits)
A course in one of the following areas:

• Life sciences
• Earth and Planetary Sciences
• Physics

III. University Core
Requirement: 6 credits

CORE 1001 Perspectives on the Individual
CORE 3004 Global Issues 

IV. Free Electives
Requirement: 15 - 18 credits

Students should consult with their advisor for help in selecting from the many varied course offerings. Electives can be chosen to form a specialization in business or public service administration. Certain courses may be important in the development of an upper-division major.
