About Fairleigh Dickinson University

Founded in 1942, Fairleigh Dickinson University (FDU) is the largest independent university in New Jersey, with 11,000 students (including more than 800 international students), spread across two regional campuses in New Jersey and international campuses in Wroxton, England and Vancouver, Canada.

A nationally-recognized leader in both global education and distance learning, FDU's mission is to be "a center of academic excellence dedicated to the preparation of world citizens through global education.”

FDU is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools to offer associates, bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees in a wide range of disciplines. Additionally, FDU is accredited by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training (IACET) to offer continuing education and training courses, and does so for a broad group of corporations and organizations, including Hoffmann LaRoche, Cendant, Quest Diagnostics, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, Liz Claiborne, the New Jersey State Police and the National Guard Bureau.

FDU Online Learning

Online learning can be a very powerful form of learning for college students. We believe that it is a fundamentally different learning experience that can offer several distinct advantages over traditional classroom instruction, such as anytime-anyplace convenience, structured yet independent learning, active Web-based interaction with the instructor and fellow students, and an asynchronous modality (not in real time) that allows students to fit the work flow to their schedules and work/personal commitments.

In 2001, FDU took the bold step of becoming the first college in the nation to require that all students complete one online course per year of study. By combining our central mission with our growing expertise in the delivery of interdisciplinary distance learning, we have developed a compelling curriculum that engages global themes and global faculty resources.
