Middle College Program Facts

  • The Middle College Program can give you college credit and/or advanced standing.

  • The cost is $228.00 per three-credit course and $76.00 per one-credit course. All checks must be made payable to Fairleigh Dickinson University. Registration forms must be submitted with full payment. [One-credit course applies only to the Tomorrow’s Teachers Program optional Field Experience I component.]

  • Courses taken through the Middle College Program may be used for elective credits to meet college graduation requirements.

  • You may list courses taken at Fairleigh Dickinson University as college courses on most college applications. It will be at the discretion of the receiving institution to accept or deny these courses.

  • A note for students who have successfully participated in the Middle College Program and have questions about transferring the credits they earn to college study:

Should you elect to enroll at Fairleigh Dickinson University, in some cases these credits may transfer in as elective credit, and not credits in the major area. While all course credits are accepted by FDU as transfer credits, nonetheless the equivalencies for these courses and how they will transfer are evaluated on a course-by-course basis. The same practice applies to most college and universities to which you would by applying.

  • The student must receive a final grade of “C” or better in order to receive the three college credits from Fairleigh Dickinson University for the course.

  • In most cases, a maximum amount of twelve college credits may be accrued while in high school.

  • If you plan on taking an AP Exam, you can also participate in the Middle College Program.

  • Faculty from Fairleigh Dickinson University, upon invitation from the high school instructor, will deliver guest lectures and visit the class during the school year.

  • Participating students and faculty may visit Fairleigh Dickinson University as part of the formal requirements.

  • At the conclusion of the academic year, your teacher will submit your final grade for your Middle College course(s) to Fairleigh Dickinson University. Your grade will be recorded on your official transcript. A copy of your transcript will be mailed to your home soon after the end of the academic year (mid-July). Once you receive your copy, you may visit our online transcript request service to authorize the mailing of your official transcript to prospective colleges and universities. (follow this link to our online transcript service).

  • Any Middle College student, who enrolls full-time as a freshman at Fairleigh Dickinson University, will receive a $2,000 annually renewable grant in addition to any other FDU scholarships for which they might qualify.
