Adjunct Professor, International School of Hospitality & Tourism Management
An 18-year veteran of the hospitality industry, George Staikos is known for his role as an educator, sharing his passion for wine appreciation. He is the Founder and President of TopShelf, a company that specializes in wine education and appreciation programs for consumers and companies. He is also the Founder and Coordinator of The New Jersey Annual Wine & Food Classic, an annual weekend celebration of wine, food and enthusiasts that benefits the Scholarship Fund of the International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. Professor Staikos is also the Eastern Regional Sales Manager for Quintessa Winery located in Napa Valley, California. In this position, he oversees 18 states, managing distributors, sales, training and special events. Since 2000 he has been a member of the adjunct faculty with the International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management teaching “Introduction to the Study of Wine”.
Prior to Quintessa Winery, Professor Staikos was the Regional Sales & Marketing Manager for Jordan Vineyard and Winery. He was also director of wine education and on-premise sales for R&R Marketing, a wine wholesaler in New Jersey. Before focusing his career exclusively to wine sales and education, he spent 11 years in the hotel industry. His national experience encompassing food and beverage positions, such as sommelier and food and beverage director, from California, Miami, Washington DC and New York operating three AAA Five-Diamond rated hotels for industry leaders such as Four Seasons, Hilton and Sheraton.
Professor Staikos completed his education in Hospitality Management at Florida International University in Miami.
