Mutiara Mohamad

Adjunct Professor, International School of Hospitality & Tourism Management

Dr. Mutiara Mohamad is currently the Director of Programs in Language, Culture, and Professional Advancement (PLCPA) at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She has had international experience as an educator in high school and tertiary settings.

Her research interests include using tools of Critical Discourse Analysis to analyze organizational discourse. She has co-written English language textbooks for primary and secondary schools in Malaysia and her most recent publication in the Journal of Basic Writing (Spring 2010) that she co-wrote with Janet Boyd, highlights the unique English for Professional Success programs and collaboration with support services on campus that she developed at Fairleigh Dickinson University. The courses that she teaches at Fairleigh Dickinson University includes: Cross-Cultural Perspectives (UG-University CORE), Assessment in Second Language Classrooms (G-School of Education), Introduction to Graduate Studies and Research (G-International School of Hospitality and Tourism Management), and Organizational Analysis and Innovation (G-School of Nursing).

In preparing for her career, Dr. Mohamad secured the following educational qualifications:

Bsc in Education (English, 1985) from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio

MEd in Secondary Education (1987) from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio

MA in Organization and Leadership (2002) from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York

EdD in International Educational Development (Language, Literacy, and Technology, 2003) from Teachers College, Columbia University, New York
