Allow me to introduce myself,  I am the owner of a talent agency in Linden NJ.  My agency is licensed and bonded by the NJ Department of Consumer Affairs and we are also a premier business in the Better Business Bureau.  In addition my agency is franchised with Actors Equity Association (AEA) and the American Federation of Television & Radio Artists (AFTRA).  We are looking for interns for the fall & spring semesters.  Duties will include help scheduling interviews, assisting us with the interviews, researching, and answering phones.  This would be ideal for communication, fine arts/drama, film, and Public Relations majors. 

We need at a minimum of one day per week and this is good way for someone to  break into the entertainment/agent business.

I am interested in implementing a photography internship program for students to work in my photography company.  I would greatly appreciate your advice as well as letting me know how I can reach the right students.  I have a few questions regarding the specifics of taking on an intern and I'm also going to include a job description.

Can the students receive course credits?  Would this replace hourly payment?  If we are expected to pay on an hourly basis what is the going rate for an intern in a position like this?  This position would be ongoing from now, through the summer, fall and winter.  Depending on the hours that the applicants are able to offer us we may be interested in taking on more than one intern.

Here is a little bit about us and the position we are looking to fill.

My husband and I own Be Creative Photography based out of Wyckoff, NJ.  We specialize in event and portrait photography in a photojournalistic style.  We photograph a high volume of work, approximately 30 events a year including weddings and other celebrations as well as 20-30 family lifestyle sessions.  To get a good idea of the work we do please visit our blog at

It is also worth noting that my husband and I are both international award winners.  Eric received the honors of the 1st Runner Up Photographer of the Year in a worldwide competition.  

This position would be an amazing opportunity for a student to learn the ins and outs of a digital photography studio.  We are looking for assistance in our office in Wyckoff, NJ.  We are not far from NYC but we would prefer that the applicant live locally.  Job responsibilities include digitally processing photos from the raw format to print output, updating client information, packaging prints and albums for delivery, and many other tasks that we need assistance with on a day to day basis.  

The applicant should have experience converting raw images to the jpeg format, have a good understanding of color balance and exposures, and should also know how to use tools in Photoshop such as curves, actions, layers, and masks.  Any skills in graphic design would also be a bonus.

We would like to interview applicants as soon as possible.  Now is the perfect time for training because our busy event season begins in May.  Thanks again for your help.

Amas Musical Theatre

Amas Musical Theatre, one of New York’s leading not-for-profit theatres dedicated to multiculturalism, the development of new American musicals, and the training of inner-city young people, is looking for enthusiastic, fun, detail-oriented, and dependable college–level interns to join the Amas family of artists, producers, arts administrators, and teaching artists. This is an outstanding opportunity to gain valuable experience and learn how a medium-size professional theatre company is run.

These internships for Spring and Summer 2012 may include but aren’t limited to the following responsibilities:


  • Aiding in the preparation of grant requests, fundraising campaigns, mailings, mailing lists
  • Research for Development Department (grants)
  • Assistance in phone, messages, filing, letter writing, calendar updates, supplies, clerical support, errands, etc.
  • Accepting and logging ( and, periodically, even reading) new musical submissions from  composers and librettists
  • Assistance planning for upcoming fund raising events, including Silent Auction, raffle gifts, and correspondence with potential donors
  • Marketing responsibilities including preparation of email blasts, print pieces, and distribution of posters and flyers

Technical/Production (Amas is not always in production, so these responsibilities are sometimes limited)

  • Assistance during casting calls, rehearsal, and production
  • Assistance to the various production departments (e.g., lighting, sound, scenery, props, etc.)
  • Facilitating communication among production staff
  • Clerical support of production needs (e.g., copying, distribution of changes in scripts and music, etc.)
  • Box office, house management, concessions, etc.
  • Please note that Technical/Production Internships are based on the Amas production schedule and are not always available

Education Programming

  • Assistance to the Director of the Rosetta LeNoire Musical Theatre Academy
    • Preparation and distribution of marketing materials
    • Assistance during audition process
    • Aiding in registrar work, student and parent correspondence, and Academy administration in general
    • Support in preparation for classes, and during classes
    • Assistance in Academy grantsmanship, etc.
  • Assistance to Amas Education Director in preparation of 2010-2011 in-school programs (clerical, communications, coordination among partners and teaching artists, etc.)

Internships hours are negotiable and can be from 3 to 28 hours per week or more. Stipends are generally not available except for transportation in certain cases. We have, in the past, hired exceptional interns into entry level positions at Amas, upon completion of their internships and their college graduation requirements.

8. Only Make Believe

We would love the help of an intern. However, what we specifically need is
someone who is interested in theater production and backstage work. We move
a lot of props & costumes around as we are basically changing venues every
six weeks. We would love to have someone (strong!) who would help us
physically with this (we rent Zip cars, pick up and drop off suitcases full
of costumes and props for six shows at each hospital). We could also use
help at rehearsals and I thought if someone were willing to help with the
"schlepping" of stuff, it might be interesting for them to then be involved
in rehearsals.

Summer Camp Counselor

Theatre Camp Counselors will have direct supervision responsibilities working with children ages 3 -18 during Children’s Theatre of Charlotte Summer Camp. Duties include classroom assistance, drop-off and pick-up, snack time, post care and some administrative duties. In addition to the daily duties, the Counselors will have the opportunity to observe and collaborate with Children's Theatre Teaching Artists.

Job Requirements

·Minimum of two years of college required with a background in theatre or theatre education.

·Experience working with a variety of ages.

·Reliable transportation is required.

·Comfort with administrative duties.

·Experience with customer service and/or interacting with parents of young people.

Summer Administrative Assistant

The primary roles of a Summer Administrative Assistant are to complete administrative duties in relation to summer camp. These duties include generating camp materials such as roll sheets, story handouts, programs, name tags, and mailings while maintaining communication with parents, teachers, and summer staff. Administrative Assistants will also work directly with Summer Camp Counselors and Teaching Artists to offer support with supervision of students during camp operations

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of two years of college required with a background in theatre, education, or administration
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office and phone etiquette

SEEKING: ACTOR - EDUCATORSYouth Stages is an exciting arts-in-education organization representing

Madison YMCA Performing Arts Program is looking for positive, energetic and caring teachers for the Winter Session starting January 30th 2012

Glee Club Teacher for 8-14 years olds
( 1 or 2 Teachers depending on enrollment)
Meets Tuesdays and Thursday from 4-5
Teacher would be responsible for teaching vocal warmup/voice training exercises. Selecting/arranging age appropriate songs. Must enjoy working with children!!! Playing piano not mandatory, but a plus.

Group Guitar and/or Piano Lesson Teacher(s)
These classes will meet for an 30-45 mins based on the availability of the teacher. M-F between the hours of 3:30-5:30. Group Guitar lesson to be given to 8-14 yrs olds, maximum of 5 in group. Piano lesson for 6-14 year old, no more than 2 person per lesson.

Acting for Kids
This class will be Tues from 5-6 and possibly Sat from 10-11. Ages 8-14. max 12 students per class. Students will learn basic acting warmups, games and technics. Class will culminate in students writing and performing their own play. Must enjoy working with children!!!
