Our faculty are employed in the animation and/or gaming industry and teach courses in their areas of expertise. Our instructors work for animation companies, entertainment industries, game development houses, architectural firms, military bases, motion graphics industries, as well as some of them run their own media companies that hire other animators and artists. Immersed in the real world, we bring the most up-to-date skills and diverse techniques into our classrooms. Since the industry changes at such a rapid pace, the importance of teaching the most recent animation and gaming industry techniques is the central focus of our curriculum. Our main objective is to prepare our students to go from the classroom directly into a variety of industries as seamlessly as possible.
Robin Barkley: Director of the Animation and Video Game Animation Programs

Robin Barkley brings an outstanding portfolio of experience in several disciplines within the digital arts industry and has been creating animations, interactive games and apps, websites, and print materials for a host of commercial, corporate and agency clients since 1989. She has won multiple national and international awards as well as wide recognition in the national industry for her skills. Her work has been highlighted in SIGGRAPH's Electronic Theater, E3 and the Consumer Electronics Show.

Rudy Agresta has been a professional artist/musician for well over 25 years. His passion for animation landed him free lance work in NYC where he did character/show concept design and animated on many TV commercials. Rudy enjoys animating the old fashioned way, with pencil and paper, and has incorporated hand drawn techniques within the digital realm to produce studio quality animation. Rudy devotes his full time producing animation and music for a number of clients as well as giving private piano, arranging, and music composition instruction.

Professor Becker is the never-tiring co-founder of Blindhack Software. Starting his programming career at the age of 12, he has since developed an impressive range of skills including film editing, animation, graphic design and web development. Whether he is the connecting force amongst a team of artists and programmers, vigorously marketing around the clock for a release, or locked in a dark room working for hours on end, he possesses an insane desire for continual perfection in his work.

Harold Burton is a talented 3D animator and detail oriented video game producer who manages teams of Programmers and Artists to collaboratively develop video games. He oversees the development team by creating and maintaining game production schedules, enabling programmers and artists to meet deadlines and achieve milestones on schedule. He uses his creative background to assist the design and art teams in improving gameplay features, flow and the overall presentation of the games. He possesses strong communication skills which are valuable when interacting with the development team and the superior stakeholders such as the External Producer, Art Director and Executive Producer.

Vincent is a multi-talented artist with experience in a myriad of creative fields, such as 3D modeling and animation, 2D design, motion graphics, writing, photography and film-making. Currently, he works as both a 2D & 3D designer creating print advertisements, storefront signage and other marketing materials for local businesses as well as larger corporations such as Dunkin’ Donuts, White Castle & Planet Fitness. Driven by his relentless desire to know more, he is constantly teaching himself new techniques, tools and software to add to his creative arsenal.

Anila Jaho has over 20 years of experience in painting, photography, filmmaking and animation. Her artwork has been awarded and recognized in many national and internation exhibitions. She works as a 3D and 2D Design Artist for Industrial Webworks and other clients.

Chris Kelly is a video game designer who owns Generation i Studios, which was formed in 2009 by veterans of the gaming industry focusing on developing interactive casual games. Professor Kelly has worked in the gaming industry for over two decades as a team member producing a wealth of web games, handheld cartridge games and iPhone games for such companies as Nabisco, Fox and MTV.

Kevin Kleyla's professional experience has spanned many years in both the architecture and digital art communities. He enjoys working and designing with individuals exploring the many complexities within architectural visualization and computer generated design. Professor Kleyla owns Akueous, a company that helps to dissolve gaps in workflow by providing 3D design services. These services are used to better understand, visualize and present professional 3D projects.

Professor Locharernkul has been working at MTV as a programmer for several years. He specializes as an interactive web developer with substantial web programming proficiencies as well as project management experience. He has a strong competency in all aspects of online game development, including 2D and 3D game engines, utilizing modular coding practices. He has programmed a host of casual and online games for such companies as MTV, ESPN andNabisco.

Fadee Salama is a detail oriented, full-time 3D animator who has been working in the medical animation industry for several years for a variety of companies and clients including Johnson & Johnson, Novartis and Pfizer.

John Scalera is a seasoned veteran in the field of digital graphics and has been teaching for the past 15 years. When he is not teaching, John spends his time freelancing for a variety of clients such as GPU Energy, Hypnotix Games, State of New York, Becton Dickinson Pharmaceuticals, Sonic Slave, Conundrum Studios, International Flavor and Fragrances, The Creative Group, Colgate, Propeller Communications, Dun and Bradstreet and many others. John has a Masters of Fine Art in Special FX and Game Design.

Justin Shaw is a full-time Assistant Professor of Video Game Animation at FDU. He has modeled, textured, rigged, and rendered 3D machinery and characters for a host of professional projects. He has also created animations for games on both Steam and Xbox and has designed and animated motion graphics for commercials. The foundation of his digital skills is derived from his traditional media roots, including sculpting, painting and drawing. Thus, his wide-range of skills transcends several disciplines, including Game Design, Information Technology, Art, Art History, Communications and Graphic Design. In addition to teaching, Professor Shaw maintains his professional relevance by continuing to work in the digital media field.

Jon Young is a professional 3D artist who has worked in studio and freelance settings bringing his expertise to a variety of industries including the medical device marketing industry, indie and established game studios, virtual reality technology entrepreneurs, and other software developers. Currently, he works full-time as an 3d asset developer and animator creating instructional materials for the U.S. military with the Gaming Interactive Technologies and Multimedia (GITM) division of Picatinny Arsenal. His curiosity leads him to other interests that tie creativity and technology together as well, such as 3D printing, photogrammetry, visual effects and editing for short films.
