Florham Campus, Madison, NJ
Visual & Performing Arts Department
Current students should contact the Director, Professor Barkley.
Our combined BA-MA in Animation degree offers FDU students the option to complete both the Bachelor and Master degrees in Animation. This program is designed for animation students seeking additional training at the graduate level that goes beyond their undergraduate education.
Students may apply to the this program at any time from their entry into the BA in Film and Animation program up until the beginning of their senior year of their undergraduate studies. To transition into the Master in Animation program, they are required to complete the same admissions process and meet the same qualifications as all other students applying to the MA in Animation program.
During the first three years, students in the combined BA-MA program take undergraduate classes that are required of students in the BA in Film and Animation program (3D Animation Concentration or Video Game Animation Concentration). In the junior year of undergraduate studies, students in this program are required to submit a portfolio of their best work for review. In the senior year of undergraduate studies, students in this program take 12 graduare level credits (included in their undergraduate tuition) as well as complete the remainder of their undergraduate courses. To transfer graduate credits completed in the undergraduate senior year into the MA program, a grade of B or better is required. Those credits will be applied to the undergraduate degree as well as the graduate degree. Undergraduate students in the combined BA-MA program will be considered to be on “probationary status” until the required courses are completed and passed according to this standard.
In addition to the credits required for each concentration shown below, students must fulfill the college general education requirements.
Undergraduate program applicants are not required to submit portfolios as part of the admissions process. At the undergraduate level the university admits students based on the criteria set by the admissions department. However, if you have a portfolio, it is recommended that you submit it for review as it may strengthen your application.
