Faculty Development Seminars

The first faculty development seminar was held on February 24th 2015. The keynote speaker was Dr. Orlando Taylor, vice President of Strategic Initiatives and Research at Fielding Graduate University.

Two sessions were held, a student session were Dr. Taylor presented a talk titled: “Preparing to Play Your Game: How to Get Ready to be Competitive in New America and the World!” that was followed by a Q&A session. The sessions were attended by computer science and  math majors.

The student session was followed by the faculty development seminar were Dr. Taylor presented a talk titled:  “The Cultural Competence Imperative in Higher Education: Who Benefits?” that was attended by faculty from Fairleigh Dickinson University as well as faculty from other institutions in the tri-state area.

Dr. Taylor’s faculty session was followed by a session on “Culturally Relevant Pedagogy: What is it?” presented  by Dr. Khyati Y. Joshi  an Associate Professor of Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University. Dr. Joshi is the recipient of the 2014 FDU Distinguished Faculty Award for Research and Scholarship. She is a graduate of Emory University and pursued post-graduate studies at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
