Program Information

The educational objectives of the B.S. in Computer Science are as follows:

1.      provide graduates with a solid foundation in the fundamentals of

         Computer Science.

2.      prepare students for a professional career in Computer Science.

3.      provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge that will allow

         them to adapt and grow  in the work place which is continually

         changing with advances in technology and globalization.

4.      prepare students for graduate studies in Computer Science or

         related disciplines.

5.      develop the critical thinking and analytic skills of students and

         thereby improve their problem solving skills.

 

The Student Learning Outcomes of the B.S. in Computer Science

A graduate of the computer science program will demonstrate:

1.    an ability to analyze, modify and document programs.

2.     an ability to represent solutions to problems using algorithmic thinking and algorithms.

3.     an ability to convert algorithms to programs.

4.     an ability to design, implement and test computer solutions to problems.

5.     an ability to adapt to different computing and programming environments.

6.     an ability to identify and analyze the structures and mechanisms of a computer system.

7.     an understanding of the ethical standards in the field and their responsibilities as computer science professionals.

8.     an ability to communicate clearly and effectively.

9.     an ability to work collaboratively in teams.

10.  an ability to write technical and non-technical materials
