Advising

Advising for the Spring 2015 semester is HERE! Advising begins on Monday, October 27, 2014. Please see your advisor for hours.

If you are not sure who your assigned advisor is, please see the Graduate Assistants in the Communication Studies Department located in ZEN 250.

Priority registration begins on November 3, 2014 in the following order:

Students with 80+ credits: Monday, November 3
Students with 60+ credits: Tuesday, November 4 & Wednesday, November 5
Students with 45+ credits: Thursday, November 6 + Friday, November 7
Students with 30+ credits: Monday, November 10 & Tuesday, November 11
Students with 19+ credits: Wednesday, November 12 & Thursday, Novemeber 13
Students with less than 19 credits: Friday, November 14 & Monday, November 17
New enrollees: Tuesday, November 18
 

Registration Checklist:

  • Check your number of credits EARNED so you know when to register. You can check here.
  • Schedule a meeting with your academic adviser in the Department of Communication Studies.
    • NOTE: You MUST meet with your advisor during advising week in order to register for classes.

Advising Checklist:

  • Review the courses being offered for Spring 2015 (see web links to the left of this page to view courses and course descriptions)
  • Make a list of the required classes that you still need to complete your major and/or minor(s)
  • Make a list of scheduling restrictions (i.e., your work schedule, practice schedule, and/or other commitments)
  • Create a "rough draft" class schedule for Spring 2015 and bring it with you to the advising meeting
    • Remember to take at least ONE required COMM course each semester
    • Choose at least one COMM elective
  • Print a copy of your unofficial transcript (from WebAdvisor) for use during the advising meeting
  • Be prepared to complete and sign a registration slip while here even if you are planning to register online.

Communication Internship:

If you're planning to complete the required Internship course (COMM4001) during the Spring 2015 semester, you MUST contact Dr. Dunsmore for approval FIRST! You can still register for the internship class, but you CANNOT begin field hours at an internship site without getting Dr. Dunsmore's sign-off on the internship you choose.
