World Class Faculty
For nearly 70 years, FDU has hired world-class faculty and approximately one-quarter (70) of full-time faculty have either been raised abroad or have earned degrees overseas. Our faculty continue to have a global impact. Faculty such as:
Peter Benson: Twice a Fulbright Fellow, he has lived and taught in Sierra Leone, Kenya and Senegal and teaches courses in American and African literature.
Lois Gordon: A well-known scholar of 20th-century American culture and Nobel Prize laureates Samuel Beckett and Harold Pinter, her recent book on British heiress Nancy Cunard was featured on the cover of the New York Times Book Review.
Minerva Guttman: A native of the Philippines and director of FDU’s acclaimed nursing school, she recently led a delegation of faculty and students examining global health issues at a NGO U.N. conference in Geneva, Switzerland.
Stephen Hollis: Director of the theater arts program, he was an assistant director with the Royal Shakespeare Company in London and has directed at the Manhattan Theatre Club.
Khyati Joshi: Born in India and raised in Atlanta, Ga., she focuses her scholarship on issues of religion, diversity and social justice.
Riad Nasser: An Israeli citizen of Palestinian descent, his research sheds light on identity, religion and nationalism in a global culture.
Bamidele Ojo: A visiting Fulbright Scholar in Nigeria, he has taught on democracy, globalization and human rights, while researching democratic consolidation in Nigeria.
David Rosen: Focused on the study of child soldiers and the relationship between law and culture, he has done research in Sierra Leone, Kenya, Israel and the United States.
Jason Scorza: A scholar of global education and cosmopolitanism, he is also FDU’s associate provost for global learning.
René Steinke: Her latest novel, Holy Skirts, focusing on the life of German émigré Baroness Elsa von Freytag-Loringhoven, was a finalist for the National Book Award.
Ethné Swartz: Educated in South Africa and the United Kingdom, her research focuses on entrepreneurship and innovation, management of technology and crisis management.
Vladimir Zwass: Born in Poland and educated in Russia, he is one of the world’s leading experts on information systems and e-commerce.
