Intercollege, situated at the crossroads of three continents and recognized as one of the most reputable colleges in Cyprus, is quickly becoming a global education center. In addition to hosting students from far reaches of the globe and promoting a multicultural learning environment, Intercollege has established educational agreements with institutions that share a similar commitment to global education, including a newly established agreement with Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. Under this agreement, students can complete their first two or three years of study at Intercollege and then move to the Metropolitan Campus of Fairleigh Dickinson University to complete their bachelor’s and/or master’s degrees.
Intercollege was founded in 1980 and is now the largest college or university in Cyprus. It currently offers 51 programs accredited by the Cyprus Ministry of Education, a number that represents about 40% of all accredited programs in Cyprus. Accredited degrees are considered equivalent in standards to degrees of international universities (in the U.S., U.K. and elsewhere) and allow students to apply for prestigious jobs within both the private and public sectors.
Intercollege is international in its philosophy, development and outlook, and strives to enhance opportunities for education and understanding between people of different cultures. Intercollege also aims to promote high academic standards as well as cultural and social competencies in all its students, and has recently become involved in research. Its mission is “to assist students to become educated individuals, to achieve their academic and career goals, and to assume responsible roles in a changing world of international co-operation and interdependence.”
Intercollege operates from three campuses in Nicosia, Larnaca and Limassol. Student enrollments now exceed 4000 in total, with approximately 3000 students enrolled in Nicosia. The number of faculty employed at the three campuses is almost 300 (153 full-time and 145 part-time), with the largest number of faculty on the Nicosia campus. New buildings for teaching, for faculty, staff and administrative offices, and a new library have also been completed, with further developments underway.
Educational Agreement between Intercollege and FDU
This agreement permits students to spend their first two or three years of study at Intercollege, in Cyprus, and then complete their bachelor’s degree at FDU with one or two additional years of study. Alternatively, eligible students may elect to enroll in a combined degree program at FDU (a bachelor’s and master’s degree in just five to six years) by spending three or four years at Intercollege and one-and-a-half to three years at FDU. In addition, successful completion of a bachelor’s degree at Intercollege or FDU would permit entry into an appropriate graduate degree program at FDU.
Under this agreement, FDU has articulated existing programs at Intercollege so that specific courses (academic credits) taken at Intercollege are transferable to FDU. The forty specific programs articulated in the agreement are noted on the FDU/Intercollege Programs page. Details for each program (program paths and check sheets) may be obtained by clicking on the corresponding links.
