Galen University was established in May of 2003 as a private university in San Ignacio, Belize, offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs in business, the arts and sciences, and sports to domestic and international students.
Galen University’s mission is “to provide excellent educational programs that allow students to achieve their dreams and goals.” Galen University’s learning environment challenges and supports students to do their best and ensures that they always excel — in learning and in life.
As Central America’s only English-speaking country, Belize offers students the chance to live and study in the English language. It also offers a culturally diverse population, low cost of living, a stable parliamentary democracy, and a rich history and environment. Its ideal geographic location serves as a bridge between North and South America.
In travel circles, Belize is known as “Mother Nature’s Best Kept Secret.” It is a tropical paradise situated next to the world’s second longest barrier reef. Visitors enjoy the many cayes (small islands) along the reef where the snorkeling and diving are spectacular. The inland rainforests, only a 90-minute drive from the coast, offer bird watching, canoeing on pristine rivers, visits to numerous limestone caves sacred to the Maya and many ancient Mayan temples. The friendly faces of Belize reflect a heritage of Maya, Creole, European, Garifuna, Mestizo, East Indian, Chinese and German Mennonite groups who have made Belize their home.
